Sixers, Phillies, and Flyers All Win on Sunday...Completing an Easter Sunday Hat Trick

Normally I cover three hot-button news topics in the omelette, but in this case the Sixers, Phillies, and Flyers take the cake. It was a Philadelphia hat trick for our sports teams on Easter Sunday - with the Sixers, Phillies, and Flyers all taking home paydirt. I will admit that I thought the Sixers and Flyers were done after their respective losses on Thursday and Friday and they really showed me something yesterday.

The theme of the day was grind-it-out as all three teams needed to grind out their respective wins. Early in the afternoon, the Sixers took on the Heat in game four and grinded out the 86-82 victory in a gutsy, gritty game. Game Five will take place on Wednesday at 7:30 P.M.

Then the Phillies destroyed the Padres, in completing the four-game sweep over San Diego. Roy Halladay was incredible - striking out a career-high 14 batters and coming within a batter to complete the shutout. The Phillies won 3-1. In the 6th inning they squandered an opportunity to blow the game open, but Shane Victorino's inside-the-park homer made it 3-0 in the 7th. The Phillies head to Arizona and will take on the Dbacks tonight at 9:40.

Finally, the Flyers came from behind to put this game into OT. And, Ville Leino came up huge in overtime to secure the Flyers' 5-4 victory to send this to game 7. Days like Sunday are why we stick by our teams in Philly. Even though they piss us off and cause us to nearly have cardiac arrest, the Easter Sunday hattrick makes it worth it. Game 7 will take place Tuesday night.
