Looking back at the first half of the season for the Eagles

If you’re looking for good news as the Philadelphia Eagles sit 5-3 at the midpoint of this season, consider that over the past decade they have the second-best record in the league in November and December at 53-23-1. Andy Reid’s team have figured out how to get hot when the weather gets cold over the years and may need to do so again if they are going to make a run for the NFC East title, or even make the playoffs for that matter.

Eagles are healthy, now it’s time to win

As the Philadelphia Eagles  returned from their bye week so did three key pieces of their offense Quarterback Donovan McNabb  (broken rib), running back Brian Westbrook  (knee) and wide receiver Kevin Curtis (knee) all returned to practice, Monday, after missing the team’s last game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

With Shawn Andrews out, will the Eagles turn to Jon Runyan?

The Eagles want, and need, Jon Runyan, now that Shawn Andrews is on injured reserve, leaving the team thin on the offensive line. So why haven't they signed him? Well, because of Donovan McNabb's injury, they were forced to sign Jeff Garcia and then activate Michael Vick. As soon as McNabb is considered ready, look for a QB to go, probably Garcia, but you never know, and for the team to add Runyan. However, if it takes too long Runyan could be in Buffalo by then. That's how The Eye sees it.

With Shawn Andrews' Eagles career likely over, it's just another case of "What If"

The Eagles have made it official: Shawn Andrews was placed on injured reserve today to make room for Jeff Garcia.  As if the move of bringing back Garcia wasn't adding enough drama to a season that's only one game old, they have "unofficially" officially ended Shawn Andrews' tenure with the Eagles. Make no mistake about it, Andrews will not play in Philadelphia again.  He may never play in the NFL again.

Eagles Roster Breakdown

There will be at least one more move when the team takes quarterback Michael Vick off the exempt list and places him on the roster, and probably another because seven wide receivers is at least one, if not, two too many. Here’s a breakdown of the current 53 players the Eagles will take to Carolina to open the regular season, Sunday.   Offense

Worried about the Eagles defense? You should be

Maybe I should have just watched the Phillies run away with the National League East in August. Because the more I see of the Eagles, the less I like them. Before training camp started and before Stewart Bradley and Cornelius Ingram tore their ACLs, Shawn Andrews injured his back, Todd Herremans had surgery on his foot and Stacy Andrews and Jason Peters were still considered major additions, I thought this Eagles team was good.

Which Eagles will make the cut?

Halfway through the preseason, the Eagles are beginning to find out what they have, and what they need before the regular season starts, Sept. 13 in Carolina. By the end of this week they will make their first cuts and will have to get the roster down to the mandatory 53 by Saturday, Sept. 5. Let’s take a position by position look at what players are in, which ones are out and which ones are still battling. The number in parenthesis is the likely amount the team will keep at that position.   Quarterbacks (3) Lock: Donovan McNabb

Shawn Andrews back is fine, but don't expect a return.

There was postive news from California where Shawn Andrews had his back examined. According to the doctor's report, there is no structural damage. OK, so then what's the probem? Andrews is expected back in town soon, but will not make the trip with the team to Indy for Thursday's preseason game. The Eye thinks it might be a while before we see Andrews at any Eagles game.
