KASHF: The Lifting of the Veil

KASHF: The Lifting of the Veil, Pakistan’s first English language film in 30 years, is being screened at Twelve Gates Gallery on July 9th, 10th and  KASHF11th at 7:00 pm. Filmmaker Ayesha Kahn tells the story of one man’s journey towards Sufism, the mystical side of Islam, which is being debated in headlines by prominent media outlets as an answer to the Taliban version of the religion.

As a Best Editing Nominee at the Santa Fe Film Festival in 2008, the film has been warmly received by audiences and has gained excellent reviews from critics. Patricia L. Sharpe from WhirledView called the film “a captivating homage to a Pakistan of tolerance, grace, aspiration and good humor, a Sufi-influenced Pakistan that is tragically under threat today. If KASHF comes your way, see it and be enchanted.”

Be sure to catch KASHF: The Lifting of the Veil during its stop in Philadelphia on its current tour of art house theaters around the US. Director Ayesha Kahn will be present for a Q&A session following the July 9th and 11th screenings, and advance tickets are available by calling the Twelve Gates Gallery at (267) 519-2737.
