Military offered free admission to the Academy of Natural Sciences this summer

Dinosaur HallThis summer, active members of the military and their families can explore the engaging exhibits at the Academy of Natural Sciences for a special price: free!

Just in time for Memorial Day, starting Friday, May 28, active members of the military and up to five of their family members will be offered free admission into the Academy of Natural Sciences in Philadelphia. This offer continues through Labor Day, Monday, September 6.

Usually, members of the military receive a discount on the $12 admission fee, but this special offer is to show the Academy’s appreciation for their service to our country. The offer is also a part of the national initiative of the National Endowment for Arts, a public agency dedicated to supporting the arts in America.

The Academy of Natural Sciences, well-known for its exotic butterfly garden and impressive dinosaur hall, is opening a new highly-anticipated exhibit on Saturday, June 5. “Creatures of the Abyss,” which explores the mysteries of the ocean and the creatures that linger in the deep, will be open to the public until Monday, September 6.

ButterflyThe Academy, connecting people to nature since 1812, is the oldest natural history museum in the United States. The museum is on a mission to encourage and cultivate the sciences.

Hours are Monday-Friday, 10am-4:30pm, and Saturday-Sunday, 10am-5pm. Admission is free for military personnel and up to five members of their families, $12 for adults and $10 for children, seniors and college students.
