Citibank Summer Solstice Celebration This Saturday

Fifteen-hour music blowout!

Summer Solstice FestivalCelebrate the official start to summer with music and entertainment galore at the Kimmel Center in Philadelphia on Saturday, June 19.

Starting at 3pm on Saturday and continuing all through the night until dawn on Sunday, June 20, the Citibank Summer Solstice Celebration will feature a 15-hour showcase of Philly-based talent and rising stars, and entertainment for all ages.

This annual community celebration also includes fun activities for the family, so feel free to bring the kids! Children can enjoy a special showing of Tom and Jerry, stop by the Philadelphia Zoo station, Zoo On Wheels, and visit with live animals, hang out with the “Play Patrol” crew from the Please Touch Museum, or even get their face painted.

Prepare to be wowed by the musical events taking place at the Solstice Celebration. Check out Delaware Valley-based band, Stolen Rhodes, musically described as ‘Bruce Springsteen meets Dave Matthews,‘ as they rock out in Innovation Hall. Be sure to watch Sophistafunk’s performance as the trio combines hip-hop and poetry. BYOD (bring your own drum) and join the members of the Al-Bustan Percussion Ensemble as the sun rises for the annual drum circle.

For all of you insomniacs out there, late night entertainment will keep you engrossed in the night as Bob & Barbara's put on their famous drag queen show. If you need a break from the noise, relax on the rooftop garden, gaze at the stars and grab some cocktails. Chair massage therapy and henna tattoos will also be available at the celebration.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 12 and under. See www.kimmelcenter.org/solstice for more information.
