Ritz Theatre Company presents Mel Brooks “The Producers”

"Bookmark

The ProducersHats off to the Ritz Theatre Company for tackling this monster musical comedy! It’s high hilarity when a pair of mis-matched, swindling Broadway producers, plot to rip off the public with a well invested flop. Things go "terribly right" when the show becomes a smash hit which finds the bumbling producers “in too deep” with no way out.

There's a ton of things happening on stage that requires an army of behind the scene magic to pull off this mega-show. And pull it off they do! The dancing flows naturally from the little old ladies and their tap dancing walkers to the pigeon puppets and ‘Springtime for Hitler.'

The comedy and chemistry between all the principles in the cast reflects the talent of The Ritz’s creative team headed by Producing Artistic Director, Bruce A. Curless.

Standing in the shadow of the highly successful Broadway run of Mel Brooks' The Producers starring Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick, The Ritz proves “When You’ve Got It, Flaunt It” and does this show justice considering The Ritz works with half the stage space and considerably less of a budget than Mr. Brooks.

Richard Bravo as big time producer Max Bialystock with Matt Reher as Leo Bloom the bewildered accountant play off each other perfectly. John Jackowski as Franz Leibkind is stellar as is Joey Quaile as the cross dressing Roger, Brian Peeke as the perky Carmen Ghia and Katie Rochon as the blonde bombshell Ulla. Really, there is not a weak link in the cast and company.

The creative team includes: Bruce A. Curless, Producing Artistic Director; Director, Ernie Jewell; Set design by W. Kris Clayton; Costume designer, Barbara Simpson; Vocal director, Andre Vermeulen; Choreographer, Dan Dunn; Graphics, Al Fuchs.

With the expense and travel to New York, it’s good to know you can be delightfully entertained right here in the Philadelphia, South Jersey area.

The Ritz Theatre Company presents Mel Brooks' “The Producers” at the historic Ritz Theatre, 915 White Horse Pike, Arts District, Haddon Township, NJ, through August 7.
