Menu Preview Sampling Offered at Devon Seafood Grill on Rittenhouse Square

Devon Seafood GrillOne of the nice parts about dining out with a large group of close friends --other than the company, of course-- is that you get to try a number of items off the menu without putting them all on your tab. Another way you can achieve the same effect is to go to a menu preview or pre-fixe dinner. My favorite of those two choices would have to be a menu preview for two important reasons. First, a preview means the restaurant wants to give its patrons the best experience possible in order to generate positive buzz about a new menu, whereas a pre-fixe could be generic, affordable items off an older menu. Secondly, a preview is more of sampling where you can try a variety of quality items in smaller portions, while a pre-fix can be a simple serving per person, often 2 or 3 courses.

The difficult part is finding out when menu previews are being offered, or getting invited, because often times they are reserved for special clients, or by invitation only. And, of course, they don't occur all that often: only when the restaurant wants to change over its menu, which could be seasonally or very rare.

Crab cakesAt Devon Seafood Grill on Rittenhouse Square in Philadelphia, "Privileged Guests" and devoted foodies are the first to hear about menu previews and other events. Philly2Philly.com would like to share one such event with you. On April 13, 14, and 15, you can enjoy 4-Course Chef’s Tasting Menu Preview Event: $29 (Regularly $35), plus, you can add wine parings for $18.  If you like seafood, that's one good deal!

And to top it off, the wine pairings make a great extra feature that's also affordable. This could make a great date night or girls night out event.
