Matt Besser - The Godzilla of Improv To Destroy Philadelphia At Connie’s Ric Rac

If you know anything about improv (and you probably don’t), but if you did, you’d know the name Matt Besser . He was one of the original members of the Upright Citizens Brigade the others being Matt Walsh, Ian Roberts  and Amy Poehler.

UCB had a TV show on Comedy Central  for a short time and it was pretty f*ng awesome. Those of us in the improv scene back then were pretty psyched improv was going so mainstream. The show was actually based on real improv bits the four had done in their shows.

Besser was also on the short lived, but totally awesome Comedy Central show Crossballs.

And he had probably the funniest line in Walk Hard, that Johnny Cash life story parody.

But Matt’s improv goodness is coming to Philadelphia. You can see him on July 23rd at 8pm at Connie’s Ric Rac for only $20. Tickets will go fast, so get them now hipsters, because he’s only doing one show.

If you miss that, however, on Saturday he’s doing a workshop from 11am to 2pm, but that’s only for improv students of Level 2 or higher. Otherwise, you gotta show enough improv scars to get a waiver. (Do you have nightmares about playing short form games? Do you fantasize about punching Wayne Brady in the nads? Are you convinced that long form improv can solve most of the world’s problems?) If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, then no, I don’t want to see your improv group perform, but maybe, just maybe, you can get in the class.
