Slice of Suburbia: Frazer
Frazer, Pennsylvania isn’t so much a town as it is a bunch of great spots along Route 30, about 30 miles west of Philadelphia, PA. Sometimes
known as Malvern, it has asserted itself with a number of great hotspots such as McKenzie Brew House Inc, Margaret Kuo's Mandarin Restaurant, and the always-packed tight Classic Diner is a great place for local business to go out for lunch (I recommend the quesadillas). The General Warren Inne is another popular place for dining and special events and has great food.
As for shopping, two of my favorite places are located in the Frazer Shopping Center. Charmingly Linda’s is an award-winning consignment shop. They are also helping out the Phoenixville community by listing donated mint-condition Cabbage Patch, Ashton-Drake and Tiny Tears dolls and Annette Funicello bears on eBay, with part of the proceeds assisting Phoenixville Area Community Services (PACS) and The Phoenixville Area Police Athletic League (PAL). This is a great place to shop in addition to the benefits of going green by buying gently used items in great condition.
Next to Charmingly Linda’s is the ever-yummy Pepperidge Farm thrift Store- cookies, cake, bread and other baked goodies and super- low prices, especially for the holidays if you have parties!
Across the way is Newbury Gifts, a leading retailer in eclectic gifts and unusual and unique items from around the world. They carry beautiful baby gifts, European soaps and lotions, beautifully packaged candles, greeting cards, wedding gifts, men's gifts, dishware, glassware, jewelry, Donna Sharp handbags, icu eyewear, Tea Forte tea & accessories.
Down a bit on Rte 30, in the Lincoln Court Shopping Center, the QVC Outlet Store resides. This over-stuffed store full of goodies focuses on a warehouse theme, with a painted truck bay, a simulated concrete floor, and aisles and aisles and clothes, house wares, jewelry and holiday items, all at great low prices.
Be sure to check out Frazer-area sales at Charmingly Linda’s, Newbury Gifts and QVC Outlet Store.
The Frazer Zoo is also located in the Lincoln Park Shopping Center. They are the area’s largest provider of quality animals, in a clean caring environment. This place isn’t your typical pet store- the animals and employees play well with each other and receive a lot of care until they go home with new families. Puppies, reptiles, fish, and birds are available.
If you are in the need for culture- check out People’s Light & Theatre Company. Snow White just debuted, and will run on the Main Stage until January 3, 2010. Also, in 2010, Shakespeare‘ s King Lear will run March 3 - 28, 2010.
