Explore the Wildwood Craft Shows

Usually when I think of craft shows, I think of items made out of felt and rocks and weird discarded items. But the weekly craft shows on the far end of North Wildwood’s Boardwalk had me pleasantly surprised with their fun and creative booty. There were some really awesome items there, such as pottery, handcrafted mini-boats, wooden carvings, lots of home décor, jewelry, tie-dyed clothing, hair ornaments, photo mats for sports items and family, candles, kitchen items, and framed pictures.

J. Carol Heichel of Carol’s Beads and Baubles had an amazing array of hand-made stone and sterling silver jewelry. She’s been in the business for years. Carol also works during the week, so her weekends on the boardwalk are relaxing for her. She’ll have pretty much any stone in any design, and if you don’t see it, ask. Her prices range from one dollar for a bracelet up to $300 for a set. Check it out at www.carolsbeads.com

Another favorite of mine is Under the Sea Pottery. Pam and Carl Sedia make and fire all their own pottery in an array of delightful colors and designs. Green fishie plates, oval blue plates proclaiming, “It’s 5 o’ Clock Somewhere" and “Jersey Girl” or “Wildwood” are big hits. There's also cups, salsa bowls, and serving trays. It’s all handmade, functional for food or décor, and is safe for the microwave or the dishwasher. They also do custom orders. Check them out at www.undertheseapottery.com.

Jay and Susan Weissman of Weissman Gallery offer gorgeous pictures of seascapes. The ocean, the boats, the boardwalk, the Tramcar, its all there in the pictures!

www.flickr.com/jayweiss39  www.A2ZPhotomats.com  also had some interesting items, with great pictures.

Custom signs to go by jb brown & co. feature designs on a wooden sign with hand-painted finishes. From “Maya’s Room” to “Kids are for people who can’t have cats" and “This way to the beach” are just some of the cute items you’ll see. Order at www.Jbbrownandcompany.com.

Fun items like personalized lifeguard boat replicas in 2 sizes and are a mini boat! You can specify any logo or lettering for the sides, rear or upper bow, and can also do pictures to match.

The Wildwood Craft Shows of Summer 09 are Saturday and Sunday, rain or shine, at the south end of the boardwalk past the Convention Center.
