M Night Shyamalan to film scenes for The Last Airbender at The Pagoda in Reading

According to The Reading Eagle, Philadelphia-area Director M Night Shyamalan will be in Reading this week to shoot scenes for his latest film "The Last Airbender." And, reading pagodahe'll be shooting at The Pagoda.

From The Reading Eagle:  "Most of the work for the Paramount picture this week will take place at the Pagoda on Mount Penn, following the company's return Monday after 15 days in Greenland."

For those of you who are unfamiliar with it, The Pagoda is the most recognizable landmark in Berks County.  At night, it's quite a site (photo on the right).  When you venture to the top of Mount Penn, the view from The Pagoda is quite incredible.

M Night Shyamalan's latest directing effort, The Last Airbender is a live-action version of the animated TV series Avatar:  The Last, which aired on Nickelodeon.

So far, many are underwhelmed by The Last Airbender's trailer.  Shyamalan's stock has taken a hit in recent years as he's been unable to equal the success from The Sixth Sense and Unbreakable.

Shooting will begin in Reading on Thursday.  Mayor Tom McMahon is delighted that Shyamalan's people chose Reading as a location and rightly so.  So often Reading gets press for the wrong reasons.  It's nice to see them getting some love from Hollywood.
