2010 Memorial Day Weekend Events at the Jersey Shore


Memorial Day Weekend is packed with electrifying events down the shore this year. Whether you’re looking for a night out on the town with fabulous entertainment, a plunge into the Atlantic Ocean or a relaxing stroll perusing some arts and crafts---there are hot happenings along the coast.

Atlantic City:

The Borgata Casino & Spa will have New Kids On the Block, Tracy Morgan, John Pinette and Conan O’Brien  all performing shows on Conan O'Brien will be performing at Borgata Sunday night.property.

Kim Kardashian  is hosting a party at The Pool After Dark inside Harrah’s Resort  while country music star, Josh Turner  will also be performing on property.

The band Chicago  has a weekend engagement at Caesars Casino where Shwayze featuring Cisco Adler will be hosting a party at Dusk.

The Guess Who will be at Resorts Casino.

The Rock Art Show is a rare collection of original art, lithographs, photographs, handwritten song lyrics, concert posters, gold records, album art, animation drawings and more featuring the greatest rock artists of all time.

Jordin Sparks has a rescheduled performance at the Tropicana Casino.

Psychic Sylvia Browne  will be at the Trump Marina Casino.

The Rat Pack Is Back will be in town at the Trump Plaza Casino.

The Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band will be at the Trump Taj Mahal Casino.

At the House of Blues inside Showboat Casino, Coheed and Cambria will be performing.

The Trump Plaza Beach Bar is holding a Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest, Saturday, May 29 at 2pm.

Ocean City:

On Friday, May 28, it’s the annual Unlocking of the Ocean and Business Person Plunge to welcome the new season. The public is invited to a free exhibit of themed artwork by local painters, photographers, ceramic and sculpture artists. Barks On the Boardwalk, sponsored by the Humane Society of Ocean City  will begin noon in-front of the Music Pier at Moorlyn Terrace & the Boardwalk. Participants have an opportunity to walk their dogs on the boardwalk and compete in various categories of the pet contest. In order to compete, you must register to do the walk. Sea Isle:

On Monday, May 31 the Avalon Memorial Day Ceremony will begin with a parade at 9am along Dune Drive, followed by a ceremony at Veterans Plaza.

Morey's Piers will bring the first annual "Curley Fry Festival" to the boardwalk, starting at noon on Monday, May 31 at Morey's Surfside Pier. The 90-minute Major League Eating Show will start at 1pm and includes both "amateur" and "professional" Curley Fry eating competitions! The Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall Unveiling & Celebration of Heroes Festival  begins at noon at Fox Park, Ocean Avenue in Wildwood. The event includes, a ribbon cutting, unveiling and dedication of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall. The Memorial Wall project is a collaborative effort of the American Legion Post 184, the Vietnam Veterans of America Post 955 and the City of Wildwood. The Celebration of Heroes Festival will immediately follow the unveiling ceremony and is a free Family Festival to honor the lives of the many soldiers lost. The festival will feature vendors, live entertainment by TRU, Kenny Jeremiah of the Soul Survivors and Sherri Lynn.

Cape May:

Historic Cold Spring Village is hosting an Open House Sunday, May 30, from 11am to 3pm- free admission.

The Cape May Film Society  presents “Dust & Illusions: a History of Burning Man” showing Sunday, May 30,at 7pm and 9pm at the Cape May Stage on Lafayette and Bank street. A reception is being held on May 29 at the Gail Pierson Gallery, located at 658 Washington Street, for the opening of League of Perspectives. The show, running from May 29 through June 28, presents a month-long exhibition of many different perspectives of the Cape May County Art League.
