‘The Bachelor 15’ starts off with Brad Womack, one of the most hated 'Bachelors' who left two girls crying at the altar after not choosing either one. But now after three years of therapy, nasty blogs and hate mail, and some soul searching, Brad is back as a “changed man” now ready for love and commitment.

I’m not sure how I feel about all of that, but I can say that I never hated the guy for not choosing either girl. If he wasn’t ready for a commitment and/or wasn’t really into either girl, then it was best that he did what he did and not lead on either one any further.

Actually, I think it took a lot of courage not to pick either one and take the heat for it both from the show and from the public. And so if he took the heat before and is back again to take a chance, I say that we should give him the benefit of the doubt and cut this guy some slack already. What’s done is done and its time to move on!

The show starts out with Brad talking to the host, Chris Harrison, about his past experiences on the show and how he has changed. I think that Brad certainly needed to air that out, if anything to try to earn back the public’s trust. But really, he really needs to earn the trust and positivity of the girls that he will later meet.

Then, Chris tells him that DeAnna Pappas and Jenni Croft (his past two spurned love interests from the past ‘Bachelor’) are there to confront him. I truly thought that this part was totally unnecessary and added really nothing to the show as a whole. It was years ago that the last show aired and both girls are engaged and have moved on. And now Brad is ready to do the same. So, let’s get on with it!

So now that Brad is ready for a commitment and is open to meeting a new crop of beautiful girls hand picked for him, let’s see what we have here. The girls who signed up for the show don’t know that Brad is the 'Bachelor' and so there is some interesting comments as they initially meet him. Some know of him and have some concerns about him, some know him and are willing to give him a second chance, and some don’t know anything about him but will sure hear from the other girls and him later about what transpired before.

There were some girls who gave him a lot of grief about his past 'Bachelor' days. Personally, if I were them, I wouldn’t have given him much grief about what happened years ago and spend much energy ruminating about the past. Its not productive, puts him on the defensive and feeling like crap, and puts you in a weird light as well. I would have focused on what’s going on currently, whether they believe and trust in what he is saying at the present moment, and if they feel a connection with him. That’s all that really matters. Plus, I hate it when people ruminate about the past and hold grudges…makes no sense but that’s just me.

Anyway, as the girls emerge from the limos, there are some interesting characters (which makes the show so much fun to watch) such as Madison (who thinks she’s a vampire), Chantal (who slaps him for his past indiscretions) Meghan (with her weird shoes), Melissa ( who leaps onto him), Sara P. (who wants him to fake propose to her on the spot), and Jill (who desperately tells him that she is ready to get married).

While all of those antics and displays are entertaining, I’m not sure it really adds anything to Brad’s interest if you ask me. For example, while later he seemed intrigued with Madison and her “fangs” while chatting with her, he also seemed put off that she was joking around so much and avoiding his questions that it was coming across as sort of a turn off.

As I could see, the real frontrunners and showstoppers for Brad (who you could readily see him drooling over from the start) were Ashley S. (who gave him a kiss on the cheek and seemed overly positive and fun from the start and who he gave the first impression rose later to), Ashley H. (from Philly who he called beautiful), Shawntel (who he was flirting with from the start), Emily (the girl from West Virginia who he couldn’t hug enough), and Michelle (who he called stunning). Interestingly enough, the two girls who he seemed to be most into were Emily and Michelle, who both have a child. With Brad’s commitment issues, I would be interested in seeing how that plays out.

Overall, I think there is an interesting yet young group of girls on this season (Brad is 38) but most of them seem willing to give him a second chance. Brad is a fine looking Southern guy and so I can’t blame them….although he is a little monotone in his speech and demeanor for my taste.

Ironically though, Brad voices concern that now that he is ready and open to commitment and love, he is concerned that maybe the girls won’t be as open to him because of his past issues. Karma can be a kicker, Brad!

All in all, I think this will certainly be an interesting season to watch as always. My money is on Emily or Michelle for Brad to pick in the end…leaning a little more toward Michelle. There was a lot of footage of them in upcoming episodes along with another dark hair girl who I couldn’t recognize in the clips. Whomever he picks and whatever happens in the end, I just hope that he has a clear head and heart this time around for everyone’s sake.

Have fun watching this season and please email me this week at helene@philly2philly.com  with your prediction on who will win this season! The winner will receive an awesome prize from P2P for their winning pick! More details will follow! Good luck!
