Dickens of a Christmas: Mount Hope & Winery's 28th Annual Production

Oh it is that time of year- time to spend Christmas cheer!

Have a merry little Christmas at the Mount Hope Estate & Winery’s 28th annual production of “Dickens of a Christmas.” It opened December 1 dickens of a christmasand continues through Friday, December 23. This special theatrical holiday spectacular will offer a portal to the warmth and wonder of a Victorian Christmas celebration from over 150 years ago, featuring family-oriented holiday shows and merriment.

The Fezziwigs invite one and all to their Annual Christmas Party at their Mount Hope estate (home of the PA Ren Faire) for a Victorian Christmas.

As we arrived, we were ushered into the breathtaking first floor of the Mansion, splendidly decorated for the holidays with the most beautiful trees, lightened and amply covered in ornaments, to the doorways sprigged with holly and pine wreaths. Everywhere twinkled little lights, bathing everyone in the holiday glow.

After a warm drink at the bar (yum, try the mulled wine- heavenly!! And the Wine of the Month is the Holiday Wine!) we were brought into the Chapel where the Fezziwigs’ daughters, Bitsy and Alicia, were eagerly awaiting the arrival of Father Christmas, so they entertained us with story of The Holiday Romance and sang songs until they were sternly told to leave the guests be and go to sleep!

Next, we met up with the Fezziwigs in the parlour to hear the Mister and Missus regale us with the story of A Christmas Dinner, and then sang the 12 Days of Christmas, with our own verses- 9 big screen tvs, and my contribution- 10 happy seahorses! Everyone participated, laughing and singing. We had a lovely time, and then it was nearing the end of the evening, so off we went for the finale where Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol was performed- scary, sad, and keen, this tale will keep you on the edge of your seat to see what will happy to poor old misery Scrooge- even though you know this tale, you’ve never seen it told this way!

A Dickens of a Christmas was a wonderful way to get me into the holiday spirit, and I know it will inspire you to feel Christmas cheer! Music, theatrics, comedy, laughter and fun await you at the Mansion at Mount Hope Estate & Winery!
