Philly2Philly.com's TMI: A Facebook Status Pondering Breaking Up With a Loved One

Break Up Via Status Update. Ouch.

So I am not sure if this status update should be TMI or LOL. I think it is more along the lines of WTF?!

philly2philly tmi ridiculous facebook status updates

Really?
Let’s break it down:

1.  I am not really sure how you would tell someone you love that it isn’t working, but I definitely think posting it as a status update is NOT the right way to do it. I mean if you love that person so much, aren’t they your Facebook friend? Unless this person is 95 and living under a rock, I am sure they’ve seen/heard/been warned of this update. Which brings me to my next point...

2.  I am pretty sure that after this was posted, you might not need to say anything. Out of your 283 friends, don’t you think one of them knows “this person” and has already spilled the beans? Maybe the answer IS that you post it on Facebook, so you don’t have to say anything.

3.  I have to point one thing out - the author of this post is not 14. They are not 16. And they are in fact, not 18. Add 10 to the last number and you’re getting closer.... Enough said.

4.  I think if you simply change your relationship status to “Single,” that might be more powerful. Give it a shot. You can’t possibly mess this one up any more than you already did.

5.  Lastly, if I were the person on the other end of this update, I’d find you, kick you, and tell you a little something about respect. Just sayin’...

So with that said, please leave your twisted personal relationship issues off of your Facebook updates unless they spark some ridiculous chain of comments leading to a virtual fight that reveals the details of the “breakup.” Unfortunately, this post turned into a rhetorical question and no one responded. Bummer.

Did you miss last week's TMI? Check it out here, where a Facebook status update mentions a gyenocologist!

This column is brought to you by the ever-so-witty social media maven, adjunct professor, and President of Something Creative, Jen Cohen. Since the bulk of her days are spent behind a computer screen and perusing through social media content, she came up with this idea to amuse herself and figured she would amuse you, too. This is all in good fun and not meant to be offensive, so enjoy!
