Jersey Shore Memorial Day Weekend Events 2011
Pack your warm-weather clothes, grab your suntan lotion and get ready to have some fun in the sun down the shore! This Memorial Day, there are many events to partake in during the holiday weekend.
The AC Outlets’ Memorial Day “Tribute to the Military”
1931 Atlantic Avenue
May 29th – 31st; 10 a.m. – 8 p.m. (Sat & Mon), 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. (Sun)
It’s the annual Memorial Day Sidewalk Sale in AC, where many come to shop for great deals!
Then renowned sand artist John Gowdy’s will use 10 tons of sand to create “Flying Colors,” where images on canvas come to life. Finished artwork will be auctioned to benefit military groups in attendance.
The Boardwalk Beer Garden at Caesars

Along the resorts famous wooden way sit back, relax and enjoy a cold one at The Boardwalk Beer Garden right in the center of all the action.
Atlantic City Beach Bars
There are many beach bars to choose from along the Atlantic Ocean including The Beach Bar at the Hilton Casino, Sammy Hagar's Beach Bar at Bally’s Casino, The Beach Bar at Trump Plaza, and The Deck at Golden Nugget.

TRI for Our Veterans IV: Triathlon
JFK & Boardwalk

The Triathlon consists of a ¼ mile swim, 12.3 mile bike ride and 3.1 mile run. The event is open to those over 14 years old and is held in memory of Matt McCulley.
Memorial Day Indoor Sidewalk Sale

This event is a craft fair, flea market and food fest hosted by the South End Neighborhood Association.

A Memorial Day ceremony held at Veterans Park.
Unlocking of the Ocean Ceremony & Wildwoods International Kite Festival
On the beach at Rio Grande Avenue
May 27th – 30th; 9 p.m. (Fri), 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. (Sat & Sun)
Friday evening on the beach check out the illuminated night fly kite kick-off. Throughout the weekend take some kite-building and flying classes or enroll in competitions with lots of colorful kites to select from around the world. Both events are free.
The Wildwoods Vietnam Veterans Celebration of Heroes Festival

Celebrate Memorial Day at the Memorial Wall project which was a collaborative effort of the American Legion Post 184 and the Vietnam Veterans of America Post 955.
The Celebration of Heroes Festival is a free family festival to honor the lives of the many soldiers lost. A memorial flag ceremony will be held at 9:30 a.m. at the Memorial Wall to kick off the day's festivities. The festival will begin at 10 a.m. in Fox Park, featuring crafts and merchandise vendors and live entertainment, followed by an 8:30 p.m. candlelight vigil for fallen soldiers at the Vietnam Memorial Wall.

Head to Centennial Park for an outdoor concert featuring the Fabulous Greaseband and bring a beach chair or blanket.

A Memorial Day ceremony takes place at the Columbia Avenue Monument.
Unlocking of the Ocean and Business Persons Plunge

May 27th at 12:00 p.m.
The Unlocking of the Ocean and Business Persons Plunge features participants dressed in business suits with brief cases as they march into the ocean to Pomp and Circumstance in an effort to welcome the new season.
Barks on the Boards Dog Walk & Contest
Music Pier (Moorlyn Terrace and Boardwalk)
May 29th 12:00 p.m.
Barks on the Boards Dog Walk and contest begins at the Music Pier with registration at 11:30am. The Walk starts at noon and the Dog contest begins at 1:00pm.
