Driving in Fashion with Philly Fashionistas

Philly Fashionistas with Biana DeMarco

I have to warn you, this isn't your typical PhillyFashionistas post. While you're probably accustomed to me sharing my thoughts on clothes and popular trends, I've never taken the time to talk about the most essential of accessories-a car.

You see, a Fashionista should always travel in style. My quest for a stylish fashionmobile began about a week ago when Jeep decided to indulge me in a brand new cherry red 2011 Compass. If only for a week, I had the chance to take this puppy for a seven-day test drive. All Jeep wanted to know was what a Fashionista looked for in a car? I had all the answers and was up for the challenge so I gladly hopped behind the wheel of this lipstick colored SUV.

I have to admit, I'm not much of a car junkie. Granted, I can name most of the car makers but that's only because I've frequented car shows in the past. When it comes to horse power and any other automotive jargon I am completely lost.

I do however care about the aesthetics of a vehicle. The color and the silhouette are very important to me. I've always gravitated toward safe hues like white and silver so driving a red car was quite exhilarating for me. But the ultimate job of a car is to get you from point A to point B. So, it should come as no surprise that the first route I ever learned was from my house to the mall.

The Car My first impression of the Compass was based strictly on observation. It looked like the mini version of a Jeep Grand Cherokee, which I've always been a fan of. The car was louder with a firmer grip than I was used to.

After a few days, though, I learned to appreciate the sound of the engine and the way the car hugged the road. It was refreshing to say the least and left me feeling incredibly safe. I know quality when I see it. The gadgets and the attention to detail inside the Compass did not disappoint. The navi was easier to use than any car I have been in and the Compass was extremely efficient on fuel. I literally drove for an entire week without having to fill it up.

As far as the rest of the car, the trunk was very roomy considering that the car did not appear big from the outside. I also loved the touch screen panel. Everything was very easy to use. The sunroof gave the car a lot of light without making the car too hot and stuffy.

I was also surprised at how compact the Compass turned out to be, without neglecting any features. For an SUV parking in the city is a pain but for a Compass it was a breeze. Plus, the height of the vehicle made it very easy to hop in and out as I pleased.

You can read more about the Compass on www.jeep.com, but take it from me, this car is fun to drive, practical enough to fit all of your purchases and safe enough for your most precious cargo. It is the perfect Fashionnmobile on a budget. Check it out for yourself.

Happy car shopping ladies and gents!
