Hollywood doesn’t only have an obsession with taking a great film and remaking it with pretty much the same plot line and younger actors.

It also likes to take old films and try to breathe new life into them by re-releasing them in the theaters.

Surely you remember the hoopla surrounding the Star Wars movies coming back into the theater. And perhaps you’ve now seen the commercials for the re-release of The Lion King.

So What’s next? Top Gun?

Luckily fans won’t be tempted to shell out mega bucks to see the film in the same version as on the DVD. This time they’ll get a treat—seeing it all in 3D. Legend3D is converting the film, which will probably make you feel as if the planes are coming right at you.

Should be interesting. It doesn’t look like they have a release date yet, so you’ll just have to keep an eye out if you’re interested.

Has Hollywood run out of original thoughts and plots?

Apparently they have, considering they keep wanting to remake awesome movies that have no business ever being remade. Like the rumored remake of Grease or the much talked about Dirty Dancing overhaul.

The latest cult-classic to fall victim to Hollywood’s remake obsession is 'Point Break.'

Seriously? Why????

It seems that Alcon Entertainment, the group behind The Blind Side, has made an announcement that they plan to reboot the film at Warner Bros.

The screenplay, which has been penned by Kurt Wimmer, is supposedly pretty darned close to the original, which starred Keanu Reeves as an FBI officer chasing down a surfing bank robber played by Patrick Swayze.

If it’s so close, then why even bother with a remake?

No director has been chosen yet and there’s no date set for release. Maybe it won’t happen.

Sex and the City prequel?

Between the movies and the multiple daily reruns, fans can easily get their Sex and the City fix whenever they want.  Since the series has ended and no new movies are coming out in the near future, what they can’t get is something new. Or can they?

It looks like the CW may be able to help with that.

It’s being said that the network may soon close a deal to bring 'The Carrie Diaries' to the small screen.

This doesn’t mean that Sarah Jessica Parker will once again be reprising her role as Carrie Bradshaw.  'The Carrie Diaries' is Candice Bushnell’s book is a prequel, chronicling Bradshaw’s high school years starting from her senior year in 1980 and going through her first NYC internship.  You also won’t see any characters other than Samantha Jones.

The project isn’t a go as of yet. But, considering how crazy Carrie could sometimes be in her 30’s and 40’s, it would be fun to see what she was like in her teens and 20’s.
