If you plan on tuning into The Daily Show at any point this coming summer you might just get a bit of a surprise.

Instead of seeing the familiar face of Jon Stewart, you will be seeing someone else sitting in his place.

Don’t get too upset just yet.  Stewart is not leaving the show.  But, he is taking a bit of a hiatus.

The host will be taking a 12-week break over the summer in order to make his directorial debut with Rosewater.

Not only will he be directing the political drama, he also wrote the screenplay which is based on Maziar Bahari’s memoir Then They Came For Me:  A Family’s Story of Love, Captivity and Survival.

John Oliver will be filling in for Stewart and the Sr. British correspondent will tape enough shows to fill 8 weeks of the hiatus—the other four weeks will be comprised of reruns.

FOX renews several shows

Are you a fan of FOX television shows?  Are you wondering if your faves will make it to another season?

Well, the good news is that some of the networks shows are coming back.  Now, the question is if one you watch is one of them.

So, here it goes.

Kevin Reilly, the network’s president, announced that Raising Hope, New Girl, The Mindy Project, and The Following will all be returning next year.

“We love working with these talented producers and casts who, week after week, create some of the funniest work on television,” he said in his statement about the comedies.  “These shows are creatively vibrant, they have established a loyal and passionate audience and they will continue to define and grow the FOX comedy brand next season and beyond.”

And as for The Following, “From the very beginning, we felt  Kevin Williamson and Marcos Siega had created a high quality, edge-of-your-seat drama that could break from the pack, and it is exciting to see the audience responding.”

He also added, Kevin Bacon and James Purefoy have given us two of the most compelling characters on television and the entire cast is incredible. I'm delighted to have this thrill ride continue on FOX for another season.”

It was previously announced that Bones would be returning for its 9th season.

Oh no!  Oh no!  OH NO!!!!

Could the upcoming 8th season of Dexter be the last for the series?  It is looking that way and frankly that sucks!!

During a recent Q&A session, Les Moonves was asked if the next serial killer will be the last one. The president & CEO of CBS Corp. answered, “We have Ray Donovan coming on, with Liev Schreiber, which comes on with Dexter’s last season starting in June…”

Unfortunately it is looking like some fans are actually pretty happy about the show possibly ending. Apparently it is being said that the fans love the show, but feel as if the story line can’t go any further and want it to end as strong as possible.

I, for one, will really miss the show if this is true.  But it makes me feel a little better that Showtime has yet to say yay or nay to the rumors.

The 8th and (possibly?) last season, will begin on June 30th.
