'The Vampire Diaries' Season 5 Episode 10 Recap: Fifty Shades of Grayson

A lot of suppressed feelings rose to the surface in this episode of The Vampire Diaries. Dr. Wes (Rick Cosnett) has Elena (Nina Dobrev) captured in Augustine, while Damon (Ian Somerhalder) figures out a way to get her out. After her somewhat enchanted evening with Stefan (Paul Wesley), Katherine (Dobrev) hopes they may be able to rekindle their romance. After spending sixty years held prisoner, Enzo (Michael Malarkey) finally gets the revenge he’s been waiting for.

After learning Damon is a vampire who also killed his entire family, his relationship with Aaron isn’t exactly on the best of terms.

To prevent Aaron (Shaun Sipos) from being killed, Wes uses Enzo as a martyr, hoping his rage towards Damon will finish him completely.

Katherine is running out of “remedies” to delay her demise. Nadia (Olga Fonda) proposes an idea that may save her. Since Katherine is from a line of travelers, she may be able to do a passenger spell that can reverse the side effects. The spell will give her the ability to keep living inside of someone else’s body.

Wanting to end her life on a high note, Katherine rejects Nadia’s idea after her encounter with Stefan.

Using Elena as his new test subject, Dr. Wes plans to turn Elena into a ripper feeding only on other Vampires. Just before he can inject the poison, Stefan rescues Elena from his laboratory.

Nadia accepts that Katherine isn’t going to cooperate. Hoping that she may change her mind, Nadia asks Matt (Zach Roerig) to guard the traveler’s knife. In order for the passenger spell to be successful she will need it to complete the process.

Damon saves Enzo’s life due to the fact that his “day off” was time sensitive. However, Damon uses his act of kindness as a way to get Enzo to help him. However, Enzo is the one who wins this round tapping into the guilt he’s suppressed for sixty years.

Elena learns the connection between Megan and her father. When she was seven, Megan was very ill. Using vampire blood, he was able to save her life.

Once again, Damon realizes it is in Elena’s best interest if they are apart from each other. He refuses to left the things in his past come between their relationship.

Katherine accepts that although one night together brought them closer, it isn’t enough for Stefan to fully forgive all the years of evil she’s brought upon his life. She then decides to go through with the passenger spell. However, before she can make her way out the door, it looks like her time is finally up, falling down a flight of stairs Katherine lays still.

Aaron is furious by the discovery of Wes’ lab- where he runs off in a heated rage. What plan does he have for Wes and Augustine?
