Back in the middle of nowhere, Stefan fails to understand that, while he is in a state of mind where he no longer cares about anything, the people he interacts with actually do. Ivy (Emily C. Chang), Stefan’s new love interest, actually shows more interest than Stefan can handle.

As far is infatuations go, Elena (Nina Dobrev) is ready to move on and forget about Damon. One of the perks of being a vampire, is that you obtain the ability to compel almost anyone. In order for Elena to refrain from dealing with Damon’s loss naturally, she has decided to allow Alaric (Matthew Davis) to compel her. However, in order for her memory to be totally erased, he must slowly remove each major moment piece by piece.

Caroline (Candice Accola) is officially tired of waiting for a lead from Stefan. She recently discovered that not only has Stefan been lying about helping find a loophole to the travelers spell, she has been informed that Enzo (Michael Malarkey) has been on witch duty. Both set to meet up with Stefan for answers turning a romantic dinner for two into a dysfunctional family dinner.

Groundhog Day

We flash back four months into the past where Damon and Bonnie discover they’re not exactly in limbo, they’re in 1994.( May 10th 1994 to be exact). Apparently, they’re living the same day over again. The only explanation is a hint left by Bonnie’s grahams. From what they could put together, they were ported into a safe dimension.

Alaric struggles to get Elena to find the moment that she had fallen in love with Damon. In order for her memory to be erased, she must find that signature moment. Caroline has a hard time accepting the fact that Stefan has completely given up.

Jeremy actually shows a bit of grief and leaves an angry voicemail on Bonnie’s phone. Before Matt can toss Sarah (Gabrielle Walsh) out for allegedly engaging in grand theft auto, Jeremy and Matt agree to let her stay. According to her, she has a father in Mystic Falls and needs help finding him.

Matt reports back to Tripp and learns he is a member of one of the founding families. When Matt questions him on what the families are truly known for, he attempts to appear dense on the situation.

However, a van full of vampires may say different.
