Help Reunite Soldiers with Canine Companions'No Dog Gets Left Behind' hosts Valentine event February 22nd!

It starts with a chance meeting in the deserts of Iraq and Afghanistan. A soldier stumbles across a lonely dog and gives him a pat on the head—probably one of the only acts of affection this dog has ever known. In the weeks and months that follow, a special friendship blossoms between the soldier/canine pair, and the two soon become inseparable until the soldier’s tour of duty concludes. The soldier returns back home to the U.S., without his personal battle buddy.

But, this special bond doesn’t have to be permanently broken. No Dog Gets Left Behind, a local nonprofit right here in Philadelphia, works to reunite soldiers and dogs they bond with while deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan. The nonprofit raises all funds necessary to make a reunion possible, which translates to a $4,500-per-pet proposition that includes vaccines, medical treatment, transportation to the U.S. and more.

While the financial investment is high, the relief, comfort and joy this program provides soldiers is immeasurable, as these animals support military members, help them readjust to civilian life and cope with the stresses of war.

On Saturday, Feb. 22, No Dog Gets Left Behind will host its largest fundraising event of the year—its annual Valentine’s event. This year’s event will take place from 7-11 p.m. at the DoubleTree in downtown Philadelphia on S. Broad St. and will feature live performances from the band POWERi and DJ Kevin Flanagan, raffle prizes as well as hors d’oeuvres. Each guest who brings a canned good to donate to Philabundance will receive a raffle ticket for a special prize. Most importantly, the event includes a special VIP meet and greet in the neighboring Overture Room at the DoubleTree. Guests can meet our heroes who were reunited with their canine companions and take plenty of photos with them.

Help make more reunions possible by purchasing tickets for No Dog Gets Left Behind’s Valentine’s event here, or by donating to this special cause. The organization has already reunited 14 soldier/dog pairs, and has big plans for many more reunions over the coming months.
