‘The Vampire Diaries’ Season 7 Episode 8 Recap: “Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me”

Lily (Annie Wersching) has finally come to her senses to take down Julian (Todd Lasance). She decides to work with Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Stefan (Paul Wesley) to rid him once and for all. However, before the gang can accomplish this task, they must unlink Lily from Julian. The only way to do that is to use Julian’s blood, and have the heretics perform the spell.

Considering their loyalty to Julian, this may not be the easiest task to get across. Valerie (Elizabeth Blackmore) has an idea to just be honest. If she tells the girls the truth about Julian and what he did to her unborn child, they may look at him differently. Caroline (Candice Accola) finally decides to fill Stefan in on all her supernatural baby drama. Like any guy finding out that their girlfriend is pregnant, he is shocked and a little freaked out. Eventually, he does apologize for avoiding her. What seemed like the start of a new “fairy tale” for Enzo (Michael Malarkey) and Bonnie (Kat Graham), things took a detour when Enzo approaches Lily to ask that she leave Julian and run away with him. After being rejected, again, he finds later himself in a tiff with Matt (Zach Roerig). Lately, Matt has been playing a new role this season, and is no longer biting his tongue on how he feels. Matt tells Enzo that regardless of Lily’s rejection, he should just still leave town.

Compelled innocents are brought together to celebrate 133 years of a secret love affair between Mary Louise (Teressa Liane) and Nora (Scarlett Byrne). Although Lily is on board with having her sons back, Damon is still raw from all the years she betrayed him. Damon and Stefan corner Julian, but are interrupted by the heretics. Julian forces Lily to choose between killing Valerie, or Damon. Not realizing they are no longer linked, (Spoiler Alert) Lily decides to kill herself in order to protect her actual children.

Rewinding back to the three-year flash forward at the beginning of the episode, Damon is held captive and discovers Lily is the one who got him there. If Lily is in fact, dead, who is the real Mystic Falls killer?

Vampires and Santa Claus clearly don’t mix. The Winter Finale of #TVD is TONIGHT at 8/7c!
