‘The Vampire Diaries’ Season 7 Episode 12 Recap: “Postcards from the Edge”

After burning Elena’s body, Damon (Ian Somerhalder) shuts everything off. This may work in Mystic Fall’s advantage, considering he has zero reservations about getting rid of Julian (Todd Lasance) once and for all. Photo: CW

As Caroline (Candice Accola) approaches closer to her due date, the babies are taking a toll on her energy so much that her body is practically desiccating. Valerie (Elizabeth Blackmore) discovers that the babies may be siphons, which means they are absorbing the vampire magic out of Caroline’s body. Valerie creates a spell to put a pause on practically killing her.

Bonnie (Kat Graham), Nora (Scarlett Byrne) and Mary Louise (Teressa Liane) team up to track down Rayna. Although in Nora’s case, it’s an attempt to make Mary Louise jealous. Once they finally track her down, Bonnie is nearly killed by who they assumed was a senile old woman who was too far gone to be the vampire hunter. Luckily for Bonnie, Enzo (Michael Malarkey) swoops in to save Bon Bon just before her head gets ripped off. His fearless rescue costs them one vampire hunter, since shortly after, he steals the body.

The officer who arrested Matt (Zach Roerig) quickly shows a liking to him. This may be just what Matt needs to leave his burdens behind for good. However, she soon finds out what that burden is. Julian has created a full blown vampire fight club. It may be that Damon has more of death wish than a desire to murder Julian. Stefan (Paul Wesley) steps in just in time to save Damon from making a horrible mistake. Despite the victory of saving his brother, Stefan soon learns the truth of Elena’s body.

Every attempt Stefan has made to defend Damon no longer matters to him. Using the help of Valerie to cloak Julian’s minions, Stefan finally kills Julian. The twins override Valerie’s spell and begin to siphon Caroline’s blood even faster. With Alaric away, this may end badly. The fate of his unborn children may come to tragic end.
