The first ever Women's Royal Rumble match is less than two weeks away and the entire wrestling world is anxiously waiting, as Royal Rumble matches have always been full of surprises. "The first-ever Women's Royal Rumble match will mark a significant moment in the evolution of WWE," said Stephanie McMahon. "WWE's female performers are role models, inspiring and empowering women and girls to be confident and strong. They deserve their own match at Royal Rumble."

The fact that the event will take place at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia will make it even more special. Over the years, the Philadelphia crowds have been among the most wild and loyal in wrestling, improving the environment in the events. The Royal Rumble has already been held in Philadelphia twice, in 2004 and 2015 and the city will also host NXT Takeover: Philadelphia on Saturday, Monday Night Raw on Monday and SmackDown LIVE on Tuesday, all at the Wells Fargo Center.

A few weeks ago, Raw General Manager Kurt Angle announced that the match would feature 30 female superstars and that the rules would be the same as the ones for the Men's version.

The match starts with two female participants, with new women entering the ring every 90 seconds. This will continue until all 30 participants have entered the bout. The only way for a women to be eliminated is to be thrown over the top rope, with both feet touching the ground and the last woman standing will win and go on to challenge the Raw or SmackDown Women's champion at WrestleMania.

With just under 20 women on the Raw and SmackDown LIVE rosters combined, NXT call-ups, returns and even surprise debuts are expected. The announced entrants for this historic match are: Naomi, Asuka, Ruby Riott, Natalya, Sasha Banks, Bayley, Mandy Rose, Sonya Deville, Carmella, Tamina, Lana, Liv Morgan, Sarah Logan, Mickie James, Nia Jax, Becky Lynch, Alicia Fox and Dana Brooke. Paige was scheduled to participate but she was ruled out on Monday due to a neck injury that could reportedly put her in-ring career in jeopardy.

As for the expected NXT participants, the names mentioned as possibilities are: Nikki Cross, Billie Kay, Peyton Royce, NXT Women's Champion Ember Moon, Kairi Sane and Shayna Baszler.

It's been said that the following women could return: Lita, Trish Stratus, Beth Phoenix, Kelly Kelly, Eve and The Bella Twins and that former Strikeforce and UFC Women's Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey could make her long-rumored WWE debut here.
