"Bookmark

Happy New Year from Philly2Philly and what a better way to start off the new year than with a new romance! New Year’s love resolutions aside, we have two great catches lined up to start the year off right.

For the girl, we have the beautiful Lauren Parker, a Pharma Brand Manager from Wilmington, Delaware who loves Audrey Claire, exercising, her Crackberry, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

And for the handsome guy, we have Bernie Emery, a contractor/real estate agent/host of the “The Wingman” (an online show) who lives in Mt. Laurel, NJ and who loves to hang out at Amada and Time and who loves the Eagles, Phillies, and Flyers.

Can Bernie turn Lauren to an Eagles fan? Hmm…maybe not after that disappointing playoff game last week! Will these two positive and fun loving people hit it off or are you more of a match for one of them? If so, please email me at helene@philly2philly.com  and I’ll put you in touch with these awesome catches!

Or if you would like to meet them in person, please come to our January happy hour at Mission Grill next week on January 20th. From 6pm to 9pm, there will be great drink specials such as $3 beers, $4 wine, and $5 mixed drinks and tons of great company! We will also be giving away a gift certificate from Mission Grill to one lucky party goer! Please come out and join us for a fun time with some fun loving people! Here is more information on our two awesome singles for January:

First name: LaurenLauren Parker

Occupation: Pharmaceutical Brand Manager

Age: 32

Current location: Wilmington, DE

Favorite restaurant in the city: I love Audrey Claire in Rittenhouse. It is small, intimate and everyone is so friendly, creating a neighborhood-like feel. Plus, the Mediterranean-inspired menu is fantastic, and while you are waiting for a table, you have the option to walk across the street and grab a drink at Twenty Manning, its sister restaurant.

Favorite bar: I can't say that I have a favorite, as I can have fun anywhere, ranging from a dive bar to an upscale restaurant. To me, it is all about the company you keep.

Current cell phone: Blackberry/Crackberry

Hobbies/interests: I love spending time with my friends and family, exercising (I have to get my 80 minutes every day!), great conversation and good wine, movies (especially scary ones), listening to all types of music, the beach, and laughing so hard that it hurts.

Favorite sports team: Tampa Bay Buccaneers. I moved up here from Florida three years ago, and while I may be the only one in the city who is not a die-hard Eagles fan, I am certainly impressed by their loyalty.

Must haves in a mate: First and foremost, sanity! I am looking for someone to have a great time with, a really great person who is smart, driven, compassionate, honest, and genuine. I believe that chemistry is critical (both physically and mentally.) The ability to laugh and share intelligent conversation are a must. Someone who is passionate about life and exploring all that it has to offer. I am a very positive person, and finding someone who lives his life with a genuine curiosity and smile on his face is really important. And lastly, someone who can make being stuck at the airport for a 5-hour delay feel like 30 minutes.

Dating Dealbreakers: He had me at hello and then...here is the short list: lack of self-awareness; the ultimate game player (if you don't call, it doesn't make me like you more); thinks real conversation requires typing and emoticons (texting does not replace meaningful dialogue); like Sesame Street, his favorite letter is "I"; half & half is for coffee, not the check; rudeness (not just to me, but to everyone around him); and having to compete with a cell phone's attention all night.

Interesting Fact about you: Attended both Florida State (undergrad) and the University of Florida (MBA), thus remaining neutral between one of the longest and most fierce rivalries that exist. Friends on both sides question my loyalty, while I see it as pure genius: no matter the outcome of the game, my team always wins!

First name: Bernie Bernie Emery

Occupation: Contractor/Weichert Real Estate Agent/House "Flipper" - Investor

Current location: Mt. Laurel, New Jersey

Favorite restaurant in the city: Amada, Old City - Love it!  Capital Grill a close second...

Favorite bar: Time Restaurant, way cool of a place, and any local cool bar for a relaxing "on the down low type of evening!”

Hobbies/interests: I am a renaissance man and I have my hands on many things. I am a tile artist, great home remodeler, wine maker, candle artist, power tool expert, landscape designer, and I am new to piano playing. Also I have this fun show on the Internet, called "The Wingman" (www.wingman.podcastpeople.com)  where I give advice to Philly singles on dating. It is fun, clever, and real dating advice to men (and women or so I didn't realize) and it has built up a following of over 35,000 plus loyal regular followers. Never imagined talking about dating advice could be so popular!

Favorite sports team: Die hard Philly Eagles/Phillies/Flyers....we will skip the 76er's till Doug Collins has more time.

Must haves in a mate: Must be flexible, fun loving, have a zest for learning and trying new things....please no rigid stuck in their own comfort zone types....life is short, lets try many things till we find the few that we like....must, must like and be good at kissing! As I am a professor....if you’re smart enough to already have a bucket list...kudos! If not, think of making one, it makes for a cool semi-direction to life's simple pleasures.

Dating Dealbreakers: Negative types and people that simply can't go with the flow. Sure planning shows smarts, but you have to roll with the punches. Someone who loves children, either their own or wants them. I don't do well with the career only kind. Must have a car....just kidding...lol

Interesting Fact about you: I did professional stand-up comedy with Rosie O'Donnell, I was in the final five to be the very first Bachelor  on TV, I have done a few national TV commercials, I am writing 2 books currently, and I almost never have a bad day (only a few bad hours). I might just be the most positive person you have ever met in your entire life, I always get told that. Happiness is a state of mine and life is simply too short not to be happy as often as you can. I surround myself with positive people like myself....why not, makes for a great time at happy hour!

Funny Quotes: Long walks on the beach, .....hate when people say that, I mean really, who has time for long walks on the beach???

Favorite Movie Line: "Now I may not have much, but I have more determination than any man you’re ever likely to meet."......Young Ed Bloom....Big Fish

Ex-Bachelor star and winner Helene Eksterowicz is also a co-writer of a dating/self help book called "Nobody’s Perfect" featured on Amazon.com and Barnes and Noble  a few years ago.
