Meet handsome Mercy – He was rescued from animal control as a very tiny orphaned kitten, and has grown into a playful and affectionate cat.  He gets along well with cats, dogs, and kids.  He can be found napping in the sunshine, or stealing toys from the family dog.  Mercy would make a great addition to any household – is that home yours?

Monday, April 21st, 2014- DuffieNortheast Animal Rescue Featured Pet: Duffie

Duffie is a sweet and playful gentleman who was rescued from an area animal shelter as a young kitten, because he has a condition called Radial Hypoplasia (RH).  What is RH?  RH is a genetic mutation that causes one bone in the front legs to grow in shorter than normal, causing a kangaroo appearance. Duffie will tell you that he is not a special needs kitten – his only requirements are toys, love, and a full food dish.

This is Lucy's second appearance on the page. Lucy a sweet young lady who was rescued from a local animal shelter along with her young babies, in early 2008.  Her babies have long since found their forever homes, but she longs to be someone’s center of attention in a forever home of her own.  Is that home yours?

Meet Maggie – a special needs girl who only hears the word special!!  Maggie is special needs in that she has an abnormal gait due to the result of trauma she experienced as a very young kitten. However, this hasn’t affected her spirit – she loves people, cats, kids, dogs, playing with her toys, and taking naps in the sun.  Maggie does best on carpeted surfaces, and she has no difficulties eating or using her litterbox.

Blinks, Winks, and Lovely were rescued from animal control as young, scared kittens.  Now happy and healthy, brothers Blinks and Winks and sister Lovely are playful, affectionate, and they are great with cats, kids, and dogs too!  Blinks is all tiger, Winks is tiger and white, and Lovely is a gorgeous black kitten.

Lina was found on the streets of Philly with a horrible eye injury.  She has since had surgery, where the doctors removed her eye. She is healing nicely and has settled in at her foster home.

In the late fall of 2012, Braxton was a hungry kitten searching for scraps of food when he was found by the feeder of a feral cat colony. Too friendly to fight the other cats for food, Braxton was very skinny, without enough meat on his bones to survive the coming winter.

Wonton was found trying to forage food from trash cans and stay warm and dry this Spring.  Now safe and warm in foster, he has all the food he can eat, and he never has to worry about rainy days again.  A sweet and playful kitten, Wonton loves to wrestle with his housemates, or curl up on your lap while you watch TV or read a book.

Meet Hoppie and Cookie – best friends who were raised and bottle-fed together since they were about 2 weeks old.  Cookie is a very sweet girl who will keep you company when you read the newspaper, and Hoppie is playful and loves to entertain you.  Hoppie has a very mild form of a congenital condition called Cerebellar Hypoplasia, which affects his gait – his condition is very mild and he does not need any special accommodations.

Meet Uno – a handsome young bobtail kitty rescued from the city streets as a lonely, hungry kitten.  Playful and sweet-natured, Uno is generally a calm cat who is good with small dogs and young children.  He loves his catnip toys and his turbo-scratcher, and he can be found climbing up and down his cat trees or lounging in the sunshine through his favorite window.

Eme and her siblings were found under a porch during one of this past summer’s heat waves.  Mom had disappeared, so a NAR volunteer lovingly cared for the litter so they could grow up big and strong.  Eme has matured into a lovely young lady who still loves to play with her toilet paper tubes or snuggle on the couch while you watch TV.  All Eme wants from Santa is a home to call her very own – will you be her Santa?

Skylar and her siblings were discovered under someone's porch during a summer heatwave.  After much worrying, syringe feedings and daily trips to the vet for fluids, they got stronger and started eating on their own.  Full of energy and kitten antics, they are non-stop entertainment!

Wednesday, September 12th, 2012- Dorado and Panda

Dorado and his family were rescued from a local animal control just before summer started.  Since Dorado’s mom was FIV positive, NAR weaned the kittens as early as possible to reduce their risk of contracting the disease through their mother’s milk.  After waiting the vet recommended length of time, our wish came true – Dorado and his siblings tested negative for FIV.  Dorado is an energetic tabby kitten who loves to play, and is great with kids and small dogs – he is ready for his forever home! Dorado’s mother Missy, and his siblings Santo, Aleta, and Mistica are also available for adoption."Dorado" and "Panda" - Northeast Animal Rescue's Pet of the Week
 
Panda and her siblings were born in NAR’s care.  Panda’s mom is a friendly stray who was rescued from the unfriendly alleys of a bad neighborhood. Panda loves to chase her toys and siblings, and she gets along great with kids and small dogs.  As much as she enjoys her foster home now, she would love to be the center of your attention!  Panda’s mom Violet, and her siblings Nola, Bevin, and Shilo are also available for adoption.

Meet Harlow and Gavin, two of the sweetest, most affectionate kittens here at NAR.  They will steal your heart with their loud purrs and crazy antics!  Born in foster care from two moms rescued from the streets, Harlow, a buff female, and Gavin, an orange/white male, have thrived in our care, and they are ready and waiting for their forever homes.  Looking for love?  You will find it in these kittens!

Saturday, August 25th, 2012- CharlieCharlie - Northeast Animal Rescue's Pet of the Week

Charlie was rescued from an animal shelter when he was six months old.  He has grown up in foster care, and is still in search of his forever home. Charlie has very mild Cerebellar Hypoplasia. He walks like his back legs are stiff and he is marching. Otherwise, Charlie is a happy cat, and he rabbit hops around the house to play with the other cats. Charlie can climb and jump onto furniture, but he does not navigate tall cat trees very well, because of his CH. Despite his CH, he is a very active and capable cat.

Sunday July 29th, 2012- DaisyAdopt "Daisy" - Northeast Animal Rescue's Pet of the Week

Daisy is a laid back, lovable girl. She was found starving outside a home in NE Philadelphia after being dumped outside by a former owner. Daisy loves people and gets along well with other animals (both cats and dogs). She can be very vocal at times, and would make a great lap cat. She loves to be petted and will stretch all out for a good belly rub.

Saturday July 21st, 2012- EdieEdie

Edie was 3 weeks old when she was discovered inside a car that was bought at auction 2 days prior – luckily, she was able to survive having been separated from her mom for that long at such a young age.  Volunteers with NAR bottle-fed Edie until she was able to eat on her own, and now Edie has grown up healthy and strong and ready for her forever home.

Saturday June 30th, 2012- BluAdopt "Blu" - Northeast Animal Rescue's Pet of the Week

Blu was rescued from the local animal shelter. She had a forever home, but was returned to NAR because she did not get along with the resident cat.  Blu would do best as an only cat or with a mellow cat like herself.  She is a very laid back, sweet, affectionate cat who loves attention.

Friday, April 20th, 2012- Sweet Potato PieSweet Potato Pie

Sweet Potato Pie, aka “Potato,” and her siblings were abandoned in a box in a vet clinic waiting room, at about 3 weeks of age.  Potato was named for her sweet nature. She is affectionate, and loves to be with other cats and people.

Saturday April 7th, 2012- AliceNortheat Animal Rescue Featured Pet- Alice

Alice and her kittens were rescued from the streets of Philadelphia.  Alice’s kittens have all found their forever homes; now it is Alice’s turn to find her special home.

Friday March 23rd, 2012- Mo Mo

Mo (short for Motor Oil) is an affectionate purring machine who has been with NAR since Labor Day weekend, when she was rescued after taking a ride in the engine compartment of a car for several miles.  Mo earned her name when she emerged from the engine compartment filthy with engine grease, emaciated, and full of scabs and hair loss from fleas.

Friday March 16th, 2012- Macy

Macy is a sweet calico female who was found in a backyard in Northeast Philly just looking for a meal.  She had some scratches on her nose which have since healed. She loves being held or just sitting in your lap.

Friday February 16th, 2012- LolaLola

Lola is a sweet, very affectionate little girl who may not be the cat for the first time cat owner.  While she will shower you with affection, and loves to be with you and cuddle, she is a bit feisty.  She loves to play, get brushed, and clipping nails is not a problem.

Friday January 20th, 2012- Lola and MeepLola and Meep

Lola is an Ocicat. She is about the sweetest cat you could ever imagine. All she wants to do is sit on your lap and purr and make muffins. She is beautiful with a sleek shiny coat and very cool spots

Meep is a Devon Rex. She has more fur than a typical Devon, but has no whiskers, curly hair, and very cute big ears and big eyes. She is a gorgeous dilute calico. She is also extremely sweet, and will follow you around and meow at you until you pet her.
