For 32 years Blue Cross has been sponsoring the Broad Street Run - a 10-mile, half marathon race down Broad Street in Philadelphia. Registration has begun for the 2011 Broad Street Run today, which is in it's 32nd year. You can register for running in the Blue Cross Broad Street Run at their site at www.broadstreetrun.com/register.htm

Last year Philly2Philly was there for the 2010 Broad Street Run. The course has been named one of the fastest 10-mile courses in the country by Runner's World.

There was over $18,000 in prize money last year. And, there was a $1,000 course record bonus for whoever could best the course records.

The course record to beat is Patrick Cheriuyot's 45 minutes 14 seconds in 2007 for men, and Catherine Ndereba's 53:07 in 1999 for women.

The Broad Street Run will take place on May 1st. Hurry up, because the number of participants will be capped at 30,000 people.
