The new Seafood ShantyWarm weather, open road, top down – all before scoffing down some Cape Cod-style seafood to boast about. Even if you can’t put the top down, I would love for you to experience the newly reopened, Seafood Shanty. Detour out of Philadelphia area for the day and take the scenic route to Wyomissing, Pa., where there is more to brag about than being the hometown of Taylor Swift.

Reopening after more than 18 years, Seafood Shanty has caused a huge draw for Philadelphians to head to Wyomissing for its unsurpassed seafood tastes.  Under new ownership, the nostalgic brand has brought back original recipes of some of its best items- New England Clam Chowder and Key Lime Pie while adding a new, modern flair with a raw bar and new items like Oyster Flights, Seafood Martinis and Table Towers of seafood meant to be shared.  Great for families to bring your children, siblings or younger relatives back to a classic restaurant they’ve never tried- but brings back old time memories for you.

Make a day trip out of your seafood cravings and stop by the GoggleWorks Center for the Arts in Reading.  The six buildings consist of studios, dance, music and galleries. GoggleWorks also has a film theatre on campus, showing current movies with state-of-the-art sound equipment. If you’re craving some sports, head to FirstEnergy Stadium to catch a baseball game of the AA-affiliate of our beloved Phils- the Reading Phillies.  You’ll leave Reading feeling stuffed with food and culture.
