Just when you thought Van Halen could get through a tour, it was announced that all summer tour dates after their June 26th show in New Orleans have been postponed, including the July 11th Philadelphia show at Wells Fargo Center. As usual, no statement from Van Halen’s camp has been released in regards to the matter.

I know what you’re thinking.

Let me rephrase that: I know what we’re ALL thinking. Eddie Van Halen and David Lee Roth are at it again. It’s not that big of a stretch to assume this. A source told RollingStone.com that Van Halen's members "hate each other. The band is arguing like mad. They are fighting," said the source. But before we all jump to conclusions here (and believe me, it’s easy to do with van Halen), let’s consider the following possibilities as to why these dates have been postponed.

1. Like the statement says, the shows have been “postponed.” That doesn’t mean cancelled. You would think if the guys are hating each other that much, the dates would just be wiped out. Keep in mind the band is playing through the end of June. Who knows? I find it odd that some of these dates were added just a few weeks ago and now this announcement is made. The same thing happened when the Monkees toured last summer, but that was an issue with management, as they mistakenly double booked Monkees tour dates with solo dates of the band members. That didn’t happen here, but maybe there is a contract issue of some sort.

2. Hopefully, there aren’t more health issues within the band. Eddie Van Halen’s struggles with substance abuse are well documented, but he seemed to be doing so well. Van Halen did admit in a recent interview however, that he was treated again for cancer twice last year.

3. According to TMZ- Van Halen is pretty burned out right now, which I can totally see and hope is the case. These guys are a power band and bring it every night, but it’s not 1984 anymore. Three of the four members of this band are pushing 60 years of age. Unlike the Rolling Stones, they don’t too many ballads. Even Alex Van Halen has cut his drum solo short this tour, and we mentioned Eddie’s troubles earlier with his cancer scares.

So that’s all we know for now. Believe me, I immediately expected the worst and kind of still do, but let’s not assume anything drastic just yet.
