What To Expect When You’re Expecting is the book every mother, mother to be, or future mom to be considers their pregnancy handbook. For any woman who does not want children, it’s the most feared book in the world. It is also the inspiration for the new hilarious movie also called What To Expect When You’re Expecting. What To Expect When You’re Expecting: Book vs. Movie photo- blogs.indiewire.com

I happen to be one of those women who fears this book like it’s the black plague. However, the movie had me rolling in my seat and intrigued enough to open the book.  While the book itself is a terrifying reference book of everything that can and will happen to you while you’re pregnant, the movie covered every scary topic with humor and grace. Right down to miscarriages, emergency-sections, and adoptions.

The star studded cast, which includes Cameron Diaz, Jennifer Lopez, Elizabeth Banks, Chace Crawford, Anna Kendrick, Dennis Quaid, Chris Rock and many more even had the gentleman next to me laughing until he cried. The movie follows five couples as their worlds are turned upside down with the challenges impending parenthood always presents.  What I honestly adored more than anything else was the role the fathers played in the movies. I have to say the movie is also one of the few romantic comedies that’s actually geared towards the male population. From a mock fight club that entails walking their children around the park to discussions of dropping, almost drowning, and losing their children, every dad, dad to be, and every other man on the planet will find humor in this film.

If you don’t have to read the book, skip it. It will only scare you, especially if you aren’t expecting or don’t want to be expecting. However the movie is one of the best comedies I have seen in a very long time. You will get an upfront seat at the inability to control your bladder, the mood swings, and the beauty of birth, filled with unexpected humor and even a few tears. There’s not a person on the planet that can’t relate to or find humor in this movie, as pregnancy has touched each of our lives.
