Bedtime Stories Partners With Samuel Dalembert Foundation to Raise Money For Haiti Relief Effort

The world has watched in sadness as the images and news reports from Haiti have unfortunately rolled in. It is an island and nation in desperate helpSamuel Dalembert photo: http://blastmagazine.com/images/media/SamuelDalembertMain.jpg and need.

Bedtime Stories, Philadelphia’ longest running and most popular comedy show, plans on doing that. At their next show, all proceeds will go to the Samuel Dalembert Foundation. Dalembert is the starting center of the Philadelphia 76ers basketball team; his foundation has been set up to benefit the residents of his native Haiti. After his homeland was wracked by the aftermaths of the tragic earthquake that has caused so much hardship, Dalmebert has asked for donations to help in relief efforts.

“It’s so sad to know that millions of people who live so close are suffering,” Bedtime Stories host and producer Gregg Gethard says. “I, and the rest of the Philadelphia comedy community, would really like to help out in any way possible. Even if we only raise a few dollars, we know that this will go a long way to people who have literally lost everything.”

Bedtime Stories is in its third year of existence and is the lynchpin of the Philadelphia comedy scene. Each month, Gethard comes up with a different theme; all acts then perform sketches, show videos or do other bits that somehow relate to this theme. Regular acts include Secret Pants, Meg & Rob, Jon Goff, Animosity Pierre and The Sixth Borough.

This month’s theme is A Tribute to Philadelphia.Bedtime Stories producer Gregg Gethard

“We live in the City of Brotherly Love,” Gethard says. “There’s no better way to show that than by helping people in desperate need.”
