Eagles to Host 3rd Annual American Red Cross Blood Drive

The Philadelphia Eagles are looking for 1,000 blood donors ready to help save lives in our community

Philadelphia – On Saturday, December 4, 2010 the Philadelphia Eagles will team up with the American Red Cross to host the 3rd Annual Eagles Blood Drive.

The blood drive is scheduled to run from 6:00 am to 2:00 pm at Lincoln Financial Field in the SCA Lounge at 1020 Pattison Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19148.

The winter season is a very difficult time for the American Red Cross to collect blood.  Just one day of heavy snow or freezing rain could cause a blood shortage in the Delaware Valley.  The Eagles hope their fans can contribute 1,000 units of blood to offset these factors and help the Red Cross maintain a stable blood supply.  By donating blood, each donor can help save up to three lives.

All presenting blood donors will receive a limited edition special event long sleeve shirt and six lucky donors will be randomly selected to win a pair of AAA FanZone Party tickets to the 2011 Season Home Opener.

”This is a very important time of the year to hold a blood drive. The American Red Cross saves lives every day and we know how important it is to have a big turnout,” said Joe Banner, Philadelphia Eagles President. “We invite our fans to join us for the 3rd Annual Eagles Blood Drive. It will be a great time for a great cause.”

“We thank the Eagles for helping to save lives in the community, and hope to turn many fans into life-saving blood donors,” said Brigid O'Neill LaGier, Chief Executive Officer of the American Red Cross Penn-Jersey Blood Services Region. “The upcoming blood drive is vitally important to build a supply of blood that will help safeguard against a winter blood shortage.”

A limited number of appointments are available, so make yours today by visiting www.redcrossblood.org/eagles or calling 1-800-RED CROSS.

Individuals who are 17 years of age (16 with parental permission in PA and NJ), meet weight and height requirements (110 pounds or more, depending on their height) and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood.  Please bring your Red Cross blood donor card or other form of positive ID when you come to donate.
