Scott Sicko: Crybaby or Smart for passing up chance to be undrafted free agent?

Pretty incredible story coming out tonight about Scott Sicko, the undrafted NFL hopeful who is quitting football after going undrafted in the 2010 NFL Draft.  Rather than opting to catch on with any team by signing as an undrafted free agent, he's giving up football for his education.

Scott Sicko was quoted as saying,

“If I were to be drafted I would have had more confidence of a much longer career in the NFL,” Sicko said. “I have to look at my life and decide what will make me the happiest. And the thing that will make me the happiest now and in the long run is to pursue my education.”

On the one hand you have to commend Scott Sicko for the decision, for it's a bold one to give up on his NFL career in pursuit of an education.

And, on the other hand, you have to scratch your head and wonder why he would give up on the dream after going this far. Profootballtalk.com's Mike Florio thinks Scott Sicko could use a history lesson.

It's a true head scratcher.  The tight end from New Hampshire even turned down an offer from the Dallas Cowboys.
