When Drivers Attack: Road Rage Incident on Route 422 Leaves Woman Shot

If you drive on Route 422 the Philadelphia area everyday then you know exactly what I'm talking about.  It'sroute 422 stressful, laden with people swerving in and out of traffic, and there are constant back-ups.  If you're unlucky enough to have to be at work at 8:00 during the week and you get stuck between Limerick and Oaks, it's pure hell.

If there was one word I could use to describe 422 to people who've never been on it, it would be the word "abominable."

Added to that, there are many Road Ragers who frequent this nightmare of a highway.  You'll be doing 70-75 miles an hour in the left lane only to see some young punk in a Ford Mustang racing up in the right lane looking for a way to weave in and cut you off.  My apologies to any responsible driver who drives a Mustang.  It was only a matter of time before we would hear about an incident such as the one that occured this morning when a woman was the victim of a Road Rage Shooting on 422.

The shooting happened at around 7:45 AM on eastbound Route 422 near the Oaks exit.  Authorities are saying it could be a road rage incident.

According to witnesses, the man and the woman were engaged in a cat and mouse type chase and she ended up pulling off on the shoulder of the highway and told police she thought her vehicle had been hit.  Then it occured to her that she had been shot.

According to the Pottstown Mercury's website the man was driving a gray Buick Lucerne with the license plate DHT7043.  Police describe the shooter as a white male with yellowish hair in his 50's.

If you spot the perp then contact state police in Philadelphia at 215-560-6200.
