Jennifer Sherlock runs The Cedars House 5K at their new cafe and fitness center in Fairmount Park

The Cedars House recently held its grand opening which not only opened its doors as a café, but also kicked off as a running facility. And starting on July 22nd, they will begin their new ‘Running Mamas’ class. Classes are 8 weeks long and open to all including those with or without strollers. Sign up here:

I have added yet another run to my list of accomplishments. The Cedars House The Kent family smiles for the camera after three generations of family members competed in The Cedars House 5K.5k got underway at 7 o’clock on Friday night and I arrived to almost 100 people getting ready to christen the Wissahickon trails. Many people were excited not only to run the trails, but to also check out the new café where fitness lovers can eat healthy food like granola, fruits, health bars and recovery drinks.

One family was three generations deep in runners, and 83 year-old Donald Kent took home the gold for his age group. His grandson, George Kent came in 5th place for the 19 and under age bracket. The entire family posed for us post run.

And if running is not in your forte, then you can take yoga classes on a beautiful grassy area which will make your mind relaxed before a crazy start to the work day. But if running is something you like to do, The Cedars House is starting a running program for moms on July 12th, called Running Mamas.

Check out this video clip with the owner of The Cedars House, Ricki Eisenstein who explains more about the facility & its grand opening:
