The Omelette Sunday April 1, 2012 Quotes of the Week
Keith Olbermann Suing Current TV
Keith Olbermann, the former MSNBC anchor and host of "Countdown", was fired by Current TV this week. A source claimed that he was fired for breach of contract and for sabotaging the network. There was also a claim that he had too many absences.
There is a report from TMZ that Olbermann wanted out of the network because he felt it was mismanaged and wouldn't be around much longer.
Now, Olbermann is suing his former employer and released the following statement. "It goes almost without saying that the claims against me implied in Current's statement are untrue and will be proved so in the legal actions I will be filing against them presently."
Olbermann has been replaced by former New York Governor and class act Eliot Spitzer, who had to resign because he was caught having sex with a hooker.
Donovan McNabb Rips His Former Coaches on the Redskins
Donovan McNabb once again showed that he holds grudges (i.e. like the one he held against Eagles fans who booed him at the draft) when he ripped his former coaches on the Redskins this week.
McNabb had plenty to say about his former coaches in Washington, when asked if Robert Griffin III is a good fit for the Redskins. McNabb said Griffin III is not a good fit for the Redskins and had this to say, "I say that because a lot of times ego gets too involved when it comes to being in Washington."
He followed that up by stating that he was misused while with the Redskins. "I was misused. Absolutely," McNabb said.
McNabb basically said that Mike Shanahan and his son Kyle (offensive coordinator) will not be able to build an offense, which utilizes Griffin's talents.
"Are you going to cater the offense around his talent and what he's able to do? Or are you going to bring the Houston offense?" McNabb asked, a referencing the younger Shanahan's work with the Texans.
According to Philly2Philly's Joe Vallee, now the national media gets to see the real Donovan McNabb. Eagles fans and McNabb critics were right all along.
President Obama Has an "Open Mic" Gaffe on Camera
President Obama was criticized by many in the media and Republican party this week for an open mic gaffe he had while speaking Russian President Dmitry Medvedev. .
While on camera, Obama was unaware the mic was on and said, “This is my last election. After my election I have more flexibility."
President Obama addressed the open mic slip up and said he's not hiding the ball. “The only way I get this stuff done is if I'm consulting with the Pentagon, with Congress; if I've got bipartisan support; and frankly, the current environment is not conducive to those kinds of thoughtful consultations," he said.
