Community Paint Day to take place in Philadelphia

Mural Paint Day to take place in Philadelphia

Philadelphia Federal Credit Union Community Paint Day will take place the weekend of March 26, 2016 from 1pm-4pm.

In 2015, Philadelphia Federal Credit Union (PFCU), with the help of the City of Philadelphia Mural Arts Program, commissioned a mural in the East Kensington-Fishtown neighborhood. Following a selection process, local artists Jeffro Kilpatrick and Brad Carney designed a mural hand-picked by the community that will be created on an exterior wall of AC Auto Body (located at the corner of East Dauphin Street and Frankford Avenue). Upon completion, a dedication ceremony will be held at the Philadelphia Federal Credit Union Kensington Kinetic Sculpture Derby & Arts Festival in May 2016.

As the next step in the mural making process, PFCU and Mural Arts will hold a paint day where the community will get a chance to be involved in the mural making process.

As a member-owned and not-for-profit financial institution, PFCU is committed to making the neighborhoods it serves a better place to live, work, and play. PFCU has set out to create a community mural that reflects the spirit of the Fishtown neighborhood. PFCU and Mural Arts encourage everyone in Fishtown and the surrounding Philadelphia communities to get involved in this initiative that is helping to beautify the neighborhood while also celebrating everything it has to offer.
