Domonic Brown Makes Debut, Roy Oswalt to Phillies, Philly Cops Burglarize Bar, and Philly cop killers face death penalty

Roy Oswalt trade to Phillies in place?

Finally, it appears that the Phillies have a trade in place which will put Roy Oswalt in red pinstripes. The Phils will send J.A. Happ and prospects to the Astros for their ace. Should this trade go down it will give the Phillies one of the most formidable 1-2-3 punches in the majors. Don't forget that Cole Hamels was their ace in 2008 and he did win the World Series MVP. Fox 29 in Houston is reporting that this is a done deal. Now, Oswalt has to clear his no-trade clause.

It's Domonic Brown with two "o's"

Phillies outfielder prospect Domonic Brown was called up yesterday to take Shane Victorino's place in the lineup after Victorino hit the 15-day DL. Brown's name is already being butchered. Last night, Dominic Brown was a huge google search trend. It's actually spelled with two "o's." Dominic Brown (with two "i's") had a heck of a debut last night, doubling in his first major league at-bat for an RBI. He then scored his first major league run in the 6th inning when Carlos Ruiz singled, thus scoring Werth and Brown.

More corruption involving Philly cops?

According to NBCPhiladelphia.com, several Philadelphia cops were caught on surveilance tape stealing cash and booze from a bar in the Frankford section of Philly. Sources said the cops were responding to a call nearby when they saw the basement door to the bar was open. Allegedly, they were seen on camera taking cash from a safe and drinking from the bar. At least they weren't selling stolen heroin though.

Cop killers could get the death penalty

The two thugs involved in the murder of Sergent Stephen Liczbinski now face the death penalty. Eric DeShann Floyd and Levon T. Warner's lawyers are arguing that childhood issues and brain damage (respectively) are to blame and both men shouldn't die. If one commits a violent robbery then has the guts to kill a police officer they know fully well what they're doing. Hopefully good judgement prevails on the part of the jury and they give both Warner and Floyd the death sentence.
