Penn State Gets Trounced by Alabama 24-3
Joe Paterno, in his 45th season as Penn State Head Coach has a true freshman starting at quarterback for the first time in his legendary career. And, freshman quarterback Robert Bolden looked like a deer in the headlights out there last night against 'Bama' defense. The Nittany Lions were no match for the Crimson Tide and lost 24-3.
The Eagles Open Up Season Against Packers
For the first time in 10 years the Eagles will open the season with a new starting QB - Kevin Kolb. They take on the Packers at 4:15 at Lincoln Financial Field today. I've said it time and time again to not worry about the Eagles' offense. They have essentially the same offense as last year with Kolb being the main change. Brian Westbrook was a non-factor last year as was Stacy Andrews, both who are no longer with the team. If there is something to be worried about; it's the D. They have a lot of youth on defense and Stewart Bradley, Brandon Graham, and Nate Allen must make huge impacts. I happen to think they will, but whenever you have to count on rookies expect some growing pains. Philly2Philly.com's Mark Eckel thinks the Eagles will go through their growing pains, but will be a much better team by season's end. I see them winning 10 games.
Phillies Fall to Mets 4-3
The Phillies fell to the Mets 4-3 yesterday at Citi Field. Mike Pelfrey, who has been hideous for much of the past two months pitched extremely well yesterday against the Phils' bats.
Chester County Car Crash Victims Honored
Two teens killed in a car crash in Chester County on Friday night were honored in a vigil last night. The head on collision occurred on State Road and Meadow Woods Lane in London Grove Township. The two victims were not wearing seat belts.
