The Omelette Weekly Roundup: Philadelphia Fringe Festival, Hurricane Earl, Harvey Keitel, Mariner Energy Oil Rig Explosion, Phillies, Eagles, and more

The Omelette Friday September 3rd Edition: Weekly Roundup

Phillies Keep on Winning

The Phillies defeated the Rockies 12-11 last night in a Wild West shoot-out. Chase Utley had a Grand Slam and 7 RBI in the slugfest. They are now just 2 games behind the Braves in the NL East.

Hurricane Earl Will Arrive Around Noon

For those of you already down at the Jersey Shore, expect Hurricane Earl to make life miserable later in the morning. It's already been reported that rain started in A.C. Earl will quickly move out of the area and won't make a huge impact other than some rain and wind before moving Northeast. Check out NBCPhiladelphia's site for great Hurricane Earl coverage.

Now the Roundup.....

There was another oil rig explosion in the Gulf of Mexico yesterday involving an oil rig owned by Mariner Energy, but it won't result in another BP-type oil spill as all of the wells were shut off.

An Indonesian Volcano has erupted again.

Harvey Keitel to join The Office? You read that right, NBC might lure the Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction star to become Steve Carrell's replacement. Being a huge fan of the show myself, I think a better move would be to stick with what they have and bring back  Wallace's character and let him run the office. Just my two cents.

The Eagles lost their fourth and final preseason game last night to the Jets. Not that it matters much, as mostly second and third stringers played. They take on the Packers a week from this Sunday. 7th round pick Kurt Coleman was the star of the game, returning two fumbles for TDs.

Finally, the Philadelphia Fringe Festival kicks off this weekend and goes on from September 3rd to the 18th.
