Philadelphia Archdiocese Suspends 21 Priests Over Alleged Pedophilia

On Ash Wednesday 2011 a major story has developed involving the Philadelphia Catholic Church, which is sending shockwaves throughout the region and the world. In an unprecedented move, the Philadelphia Archdiocese has suspended 21 priests over allegations of sexual abuse involving children. Cardinal Justin Rigali stated that the priests have been removed from ministry while their cases are being reviewed. Rigali went on to say that the 21 priests have been placed on administrative leave. The 21 priests are named as child molestation suspects in a grand jury report. Added to that, the report also accused a high-ranking church official of transferring accused priests to new parishes without informing anyone of the accusations. For years there have been allegations that the Philadelphia Archdiocese has provided a safe haven for priests who were allegedly involved in this heinous crimes.

Seven Children Die In Farmhouse Fire Near Harrisburg

A farmhouse fire has claimed the lives of seven children late last night. The farmhouse fire occured in Blain, PA - a town which is 20 miles west of Harrisburg. According to WGAL.com the father had left the home to get his milk delivery truck and nodded off in his truck when the fire began around 10 P.M. last night. By the time the father came home, it was engulfed in flames. The children who died ranged in ages 7 months to 11 years. A 3-year-old daughter was the lone surviving child.

Villanova Loses In Big East Tournament To South Florida

Villanova's late-season slide continues. They were ousted in the Big East Tournament by 15th seed South Florida last night after blowing a 16-point lead. South Florida beat them with a last second shot, winning 70-69 in a major upset. Unlike previous seasons, this particular Villanova team is stumbling as they go down the stretch. After starting off 16-1, the Wildcats may be a bubble team after falling to 21-11. They are just 5-10 in their last 15 games. While it's unlikely the Selection Committee will snub them, it could be a possibility if they place emphasis on how teams have played down the stretch.
