Cliff Lee Dominates Red Sox For Third Consecutive Shutout

The Phillies -Red Sox series got underway last night and the entire "Boston thing" became an afterthought, as it was overshadowed by Cliff Lee's dominance.  Cliff Lee's dominant June continued last night as he shut out (allowing only 2 hits) the Red Sox in the Phillies' 5-0 victory last night. Not only that, but it was Lee's third consecutive shutout. His insane June looks like a fantasy baseball owner's wet dream: 5-0 record, 0.21 ERA, and 3 shutouts.

With the shutout, he became the first Phillie since Robin Roberts in 1950 to complete this feat. He's still a ways from Orel Hershiser's record 59 straight scoreless innings streak, which he set back in 1988. Lee's streak is currently at 32 innings.

For anyone who doubted Cliff Lee earlier this season, it's time to put those doubts to rest now. Lee is not only the best pitcher on the Phillies' staff right now, but enjoying the hottest streak of any pitcher in the majors since Francisco Liriano's reign of dominance in 2006.

The Phillies and Red Sox go back at it tonight at 7:05 at the bank.

Campbell's Soup Slashes 130 Jobs in Camden

As if Camden doesn't have enough bad news. Here's some more. It was announced last night that Campbell's Soup will lay off 10 percent (130 jobs) of it's workforce at the Camden headquarters. This comes on the heels of the hiring of a new CEO - Denise Morrison who is what you might call a "hatchet woman." She also ordered the closing of their operations in Russia.
