Dangerous Heat Continues

You know it's brutally hot when the road buckles on Route 76. Even though temperatures reached nearly 100 degrees throughout much of the area yesterday, the region isn't officialy in a "heat wave" just yet. There needs to be three or more consecutive days of 90 degree temperatures for a heat wave to be declared. With that said, just one day of this extreme heat makes it feel like days. And, temps are expected to be even hotter today as lows throughout much of the area bottomed out in the mid-70's. Tomorrow we will get some relief, but temps are expected to be near 90 degrees. The current hot weather pattern is reponsible for producing 100 degree temps out west. It was even 103 degrees in Minneapolis on Tuesday.

Cole Hamels Dominant in Phillies' 2-0 Victory

Cole Hamels was electrifying in the opressing weather last night, leading the Phillies to a 2-0 victory. It's well-documented how bad the Phillies' offense has been this year, but on nights like this you don't need an offense. The Phillies cannot expect their four aces to go out and deal every night so it would behoove them to make an addition via trade at some point.

Flyers Finally Acquire a Goalie in Ilya Bryzgalov

The Flyers have finally gone out and and traded for that top-flight goal tender we've been screaming for over the past 15 years. They traded for the negotiatiing rights to Phoenix Coyotes goalie Ilya Bryzgalov and have 3 weeks to sign him before he becomes a free agent. That's the catch: They have to lock him up to a deal or he goes to the open market.
