610 WIP to Take Over 94.1 WYSP September 6

In what is the biggest shakeup in Philadelphia radio in decades, it was announced that 610 WIP will be taking over legendary rock station 94.1 WYSP's signal. The move means the end of 94 WYSP, which was a rock station for over four decades.

We already knew earlier this week that Howard Eskin was leaving his afternoon show starting September 2. Now, it's pretty clear why he was leaving. He lost the ratings war to Mike Missanelli over the past few years and it wasn't even close.

This move by CBS Radio is clearly a counter to ESPN Radio's dualcast of "The Fantatic" sports station, which is broadcasted on 950 AM and 97.5 FM.

Ever since Howard Stern left terrestrial radio - WYSP hasn't had an answer for their morning format. And, their other slots struggled in this market. Now - 93.3 WMMR and 104.5 WRFF remain the only two rock giants in Philly radio.

With Eskin leaving WIP, Michael Barkann will move into the fold. Barkann and Ike Reese will take over the mid-day slot on WIP from 10-1. And, Glenn Macnow and Anthony Gargano will take over from 1-6 PM.

Angelo Cataldi's Morning Show remains unchanged.

Phillies Defeat Diamondbacks 9-2

After a disappointing loss to Arizona on Tuesday night, the Phillies bounced back in a big way last night behind Cliff Lee's pitching and some offensive firepower provided by John Mayberry Jr., Jimmy Rollins, Shane Victorino, and Hunter Pence.

The squads will go back at it tonight at 7:05 at The Bank. Vance Worley takes the hill against Dbacks ace and former Yankee Ian Kennedy.
