Iran Won't Release Jailed American Hikers Yet
Despite President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's claim that two jailed hikers would be released possibly this week, Iranian judicial officals are not budging just yet. Ahmadinejad stated in an interview with NBC's Ann Curry that Josh Fattal and Shane Bauer would be released as a humanitarian gesture.
The bail offer for Americans Josh Fattal and Shane Bauer is not a done deal just yet. However, other sources have told NBC that their release still could happen later this week.
Ahmadinejad is scheduled to come to New York next week for the United Nations General Assembly meeting. Bauer and Fattal have been imprisoned for two years now - and were recently sentenced to eight years in prison for espionage. Bauer's fiance Sarah Shourd was released last year on humanitarian grounds.
Some contend that Iran would like to make a gesture to the U.S. to improve political relations. Others suggest it's just a propaganda ploy. Added to that, Shourd's family had to cough up $500,000 for her release. And, the same would go for Bauer and Fattal - who would be released on $500,000 bail each.
Phillies Lose to Astros Again 5-2
Maybe the Phillies are disinterested as the regular season winds down. Or, they could be winded from a long season. Either way it's embarrassing that they have not only lost one game to the Astros, but two in a row. It also marks the Phillies' first 3-game losing streak in 3 months.
With J.A. Happ's victory last night, the Phillies have been defeated by two former Phillies on consecutive nights. Brett Myers outpitched Roy Oswalt on Monday night. Myers and Happ had awful records heading into this series.
Roy Halladay will take the hill today and hope to stave off a sweep at the hands of Houston. One can only hope...
Controversial Jackie Kennedy Tapes Expose Her Hatred For Martin Luther King Jr.
With an upcoming book about Jacqueline Kennedy set to hit book shelves and online stores - a series of secret audio interviews have been released.
And, they certainly put America's most popular first lady ever in a negative light. Kennedy basically called Martin Luther King Jr. a terrible man and a "sex pest."
Jackie Kennedy claimed that Martin Luther King Jr. was also drunk at John F. Kennedy's funeral and that he made fun of Cardinal Robert Cushing.
She also spoke of secret FBI wiretap tapes, where J. Edgar Hoover (who hated King Jr.) secretly recorded King in a hotel room. It's even widely speculated that Hoover had a hand in Dr. King's assassination.
