Vance Worley Leads Phillies, Sidney Crosby Announcement, and Amanda Knox Acquittal Likely

The Omelette Wednesday September 7, 2011

Vance Worley Leads Phillies

Phillies rookie phenom Vance Worley improved to 10-1 on the season as the Phillies knocked off the Braves.

Worley pitched six effective innings in leading the Phillies to a 6-3 victory over Atlanta on a rain-soaked evening. It's actually amazing that they got this game in, considering the amount of rain hitting the PA area this week.

The Phillies will go for the sweep tonight at The Bank at 7:05. Roy Oswalt will take the hill against Brandon Beachy.

Sidney Crosby to Update Public on His Condition at Press Conference Today

Normally we don't give a rat's arse about other sports teams, but in this case it's important to note that Pittsburgh Penguins star Sidney Crosby will have a press conference at 12:30 today to update the public on his health.

Crosby has been away from the game and been silent for months since early January after suffering from multiple concussions.

The low-rent bloggers are speculating that the 24-year-old Penguins superstar could retire, which is not only irresponsible, but simply a stupid thing to predict. Unless Crosby has some sort of debilitating brain condition he will return. It's just a matter of when. For the Philly diehards who are hoping that Crosby will never return again, you won't get your wish.

Amanda Knox Acquittal Is Likely

Convicted killer Amanda Knox could finally be set free according to an Italian prosecutor working on the case.

Prosecutor Manuela Comodi said: "There is an ill wind blowing in this case. The judge and his assistant are clearly against us. I can see both Knox and Sollecito being freed which will be a shame as they are both involved."

The key to the prosecution's case if a 12 inch kitchen knife which allegedly had the DNA of Amanda Knox on it. However, an independent report by forensic experts has questioned the validity of this evidence.

Knox's team received by good news by the Italian judge who rejected a call by the prosecution to admit new DNA evidence. And, proceedings have been adjourned until September 23rd when final arguments will begin.
