Broad Street Run 2012 Draws Thousands Around the Area

The Blue Cross Broad Street Run took place in downtown Philadelphia yesterday. The 10-mile race, which is in it's 33rd year (since 1980) is one of the largest races in the country. Over 40,000 people participated in the Broad Street Run yesterday, while thousands more watched from the sidelines.

Even Mayor Nutter participated in the race. The race started at 8:30 A.M. and wrapped up shortly after 12:30, with Kenya's Henry Rutto taking first place.

Sixers Go Up 3 Games to 1 on the Bulls

Who would have thought that a week ago when the Flyers knocked the Penguins out of the playoffs that they would be facing elimination and not the Sixers?

Well it is the case with the Sixers defeating the Bulls 89-82 yesterday.  They now have a commanding 3-1 lead in the first-round series. Spencer Hawes scored 22 points, while Jrue Holliday added 20 himself.

They will look to close out the series in Chicago tomorrow night.

The Flyers Lose and Now Face Elimination in Game 5

The Flyers imploded once again against the Devils, losing 4-2 last night. Dainius Zubrus lit the Flyers up for 2 goals in the winning effort.

Following a shaky opening in the 1st period with the Devils coming out like gangbusters, the Flyers managed to score two quick goals. Claude Giroux and Scott Hartnell each had a goal.  It was downhill from there as they quickly surrendered their 2-0 lead.

The Flyers seem to have no answers on defense and the Devils are shutting down their vaunted offense. Claude Giroux has been rendered a non-factor in the series by scoring just 2 goals in the 4 games.

Of course, Ilya Bryzgalov is playing like every other second rate goalie the Flyers have put out there over the years, which only makes matters worse.

It's clear that the loss of Chris Pronger has reared it's ugly head. Pronger is arguably the best defensemen in the league and brought a defensive presence that nobody on their team can match. The Flyers have been outshot all series, which has put them in this hole. They were outshot 43-22 last night. And, to top it off - Claude Giroux faces an NHL hearing for his hit on Zubrus.

They now face elimination tomorrow night and could be playing without their superstar.
