Texas Rangers are the Favorite to Land Cole Hamels

The Texas Rangers are rumored to be the favorite to land Phillies ace Cole Hamels, who is likely to leave via free agency following the season.

The Phillies currently sit at 13 games below .500 and have 50 losses. It took them until mid-September last year to lose that many games. The season is for all intents and purposes, over. The Rangers have an elite young shortstop in Jurickson Profar is who nearly ready to ascend to the major league ranks. If the Phillies can pry Profar away and a young pitcher or two, it would go a long ways to starting the rebuilding process.

Profar is said to be untouchable, but the Rangers have an elite shortstop in Elvis Andrus and Ian Kinsler manning second base. If the Rangers can agree to a deal with Hamels prior to a trade, then it would make it much easier to relinquish their top prospect to the Phillies. Profar is considered by many to be the top prospect in all of baseball.

Or, they can watch Hamels leave for L.A. following this season.
