Kristi Noem: This Tea Partier Means Business

Kristi Noem is the latest politician to surface from out of nowhere. Outside of South Dakota most Americans have no idea who she is. And, if you're not a Tea Party supporter then you probably never heard of her - until today.

Just who is Kristi Noem? If you aren't too lazy and rock a wiki on Kristi Noem you'll see she's a Republican Congressional candidate in South Dakota for their only one and only Congressional District, also known as an "at large Congressional District" since it covers the entire state. Afterall, South Dakota isn't exactly California or Texas; it's quite small. Noem currently serves in the South Dakota House of Representatives and won the Republican nomination for Congress. She's running against Democrat Stephanie Herseth Sandlin.

Noem is blowing up in the headlines for raising twice as much money ($1.1 million) as her opponent Stephanie Herseth Sandlin. Added to that, she's touted as the next Sarah Palin, which is either a good thing or a bad thing depending on which side of the fence you sit.

Now, what type of ideas does Noem have in store for South Dakota and America for that matter should she get elected? Based on her one current political ad she wants to lower the national debt (who doesn't at this point), repeal the Government-mandated Healthcare Program, and cut out wasteful spending.

These appear to be solid goals. Our national debt is out of control and the Federal and State Governments are rife with wasteful spending and corruption. If you don't see that then you're kidding yourself.

Now where does she stand on social issues - issues which have no bearing on how our country is run, but rather to control people's lives. She's extremely Pro-Life, to the point that she voted for a bill which would ban abortions except in the case of incest or rape. In fact if you look at Kristi Noem's voting record on Project Vote Smart, she's totally against abortion. So, if you're a woman who believes you should make your own decisions and not have the government make them for you, then you're not going to be a fan of Noem's.

The key reason why staunch conservatives (particularly Tea Partiers) are such hypocrites is they talk out of both sides of their mouth. On the one hand they're against the government "making decisions for us" (i.e. Bailouts, Government Healthcare), supporting lazy people and wasteful spending. Then in the case of social issues like abortion and gay marriage, THEN they want to make that decision for you.

At least she's against the indiscriminate killing of mountain lions though - that's noble. And, she did vote for a minimum wage increase. Afterall, if you're making under 8 bucks an hour you're already doing bad enough. Good to see she is willing to lend a helping hand. South Dakota's minimum wage was raised to a measley $7.25 in July 2009.

And, Kristi Noem had this to say about racking up THIRTY traffic tickets and multiple arrest warrants for skipping court. "Obviously I'm not proud of my driving record, but I've been working hard to be a better example to young kids and young drivers out there." Well that's good. At least she realizes she's a poor driver.

The verdict is Kristi Noem is a Pro-Lifer and Tea Partier who wants to limit the rights on individuals socially, but is for cutting down on wasteful spending. In other words, she's a wolf hiding in sheep's clothing. In times like this, abortion is the last thing we should be worried about. Unemployment, government corruption, battling crime & povery, improving education, and fighting the war on terrorism are just a tad more important.

Also if you're crossing the street when she's driving - look out!
